DJ EXCALIBAH PRESENTS
Da Boyz
Based on Rodgers' and Hart's original "The Boys From
Syracuse" this is the last event in Richard Rodgers' centenary year at The Theatre Royal Stratford East.
This new production has been adapted by
DJ EXCALIBAH ('Tales from the Legend', BBC 1XTRA),
MC SKOLLA (from Hip-Hop Duo Dirty Diggers) and international artist
ULTZ
who is also the director and designer. The music has been completely re-mixed as
an updated East End Hip Hop street musical. The new score includes a variety of today's styles
including: Garage, Bashment, R'n'B and Hip-Hop to produce modern day re-workings of the original hit songs.
Cast includes some of the hottest lyricists and live vocal performers:
Kyza,
Kat and
Mystro.
There will also be a surprise guest appearances from
RODNEY P and other Urban Music stars.
The initial run is set to take place between Thursday 24 April - Saturday 31 May
at 7.45pm.
Inspired by Jay Z sampling from the musical Annie, and Busta Rhymes looping from Oliver!, the creative team have pushed the concept further by sampling an entire Broadway musical. The result is a UK Hip-Hop Concert.
DJ EXCALIBAH performs on stage with a cast of thirty - MCs, Rappers, R'n'B Singers
and Street Dancers drawn from some of the very best crews in London.
DA BOYZ will be one of the most significant events of the year, told in the most exciting language of all…
MUSIC.
