Demo Queries
Thanks for visiting my site
and for taking the time out to mail me. Send me whatever you have, vinyl
is best, then CD, but it has to play on a computer, and email a press
pack or biog as well as a couple of pictures and I'll see what I can do.
Videos (clips) should be on VCD or DVD and encoded to Pal (European)
specification. If it is good, maybe we can sort out a feature for the
site.
Peace.

I would be happy to receive
any demo you have, see above, but I guess though that you are really
trying to get through to the Low Life Label, in which case you need to
mailto:info@lowliferecords.co.uk and they can give you an address
for demos. Otherwise just follow the links off my site and it should put
you in contact with a lot of people.
Thanks for passing by the
site and for taking the time out to mail me. You just have to go for it
and have confidence in yourself. Your location may make a bit of a
difference, but in this day and age it shouldn't really matter. You
might just have to be a bit better than the London people to shine
through. I don't have time to sort a list of contacts out for you, but
go to any UK Hip Hop website and follow the label links, and that should
put in contact with a lot of people. You read this page didn't you?
http://www.low-life.fsnet.co.uk/pressing/press_vinyl.htm.
If you want a page up in the demos section on my site
britishhiphop.co.uk send me over a biography / write up on you and your
crew as well as a couple of pictures and a small real audio soundfile
and I can put it up for you.
Hope this helps a bit.

Great, the easier you make
this for me the more likely it is going to happen. Send me whatever you

what I can do. Videos (clips) should be on VCD or DVD and encoded to Pal

OK, fantastic. At the
present time I don't have a whole load of time to sort this out. Please
find below links to word documents containing a set of standard
questions which it would be great if you could answer for a feature page
on my website. Hopefully it'll get you some exposure. I hope that you
can work with most of the questions, please answer as many questions as
you want, don't feel pressured to write loads, but if you can give
people more of an insight they'll be more interested. Also feel free to
add your own questions and it would be preferable if you change mine to
make the interview unique to you and especially if you have specific issues you
wish to address or even if you think my questions are boring and can be better.
After reading what you say I might have to send you some additional
questions. If different people answer can you put their name or initials
before the answer? Also, please can you email some pictures (any pix - pic
of you, the crew, to go along with this that would be great). We have to
do it this way as there is no chance that I would ever get the time to
transcribe any conversation we may have in real life. Please send
completed interviews along with pictures back to me at
mailto:info@britishhiphop.co.uk.
Yes of course. Fill out all
of the information in
this form and I will get round to adding the information as soon as
possible.
Yes, of course I will
consider you for inclusion on the site. Please follow the
instructions for a UK based artist.
No. The database is
specifically for UK artists.
Record label queries
Thanks for visiting my site
and for taking the time out to mail me. This is great news. I would most
definitely be interested in working with you. As you can see the site
has a specific remit, specialising in Hip Hop, especially that which
comes from the UK. I already have sporadic contact with a couple of
labels and it would be great to expand my contacts to include the other
offerings your label has to offer. It would be great if you could keep
me up to date with what is going on and send me whatever you have, Vinyl
is best, I don't play CDs that much. Additionally it would be good if
you could email me press pack or biogs as well as pictures and I'll see
what I can do. If you have any further ideas for collaborations like
competitions, interviews or whatever get back to me.
Peace.

OK, no problem. Please fill
out
this form for your releases. For the Record Label page please send
me your full contact details - Telephone and Fax numbers, email address
and website URL. Please include an artist rosta and a brief one
paragraph breakdown of the label, its location, ethos and history.
Site Queries
Yes, simply email it to me
at
mailto:info@britishhiphop.co.uk. Please make sure that any work is
fully spell and grammar checked and that you include any suitable
pictures you would like to go along with the piece as well as any
relevant links. All work will be quality checked.
Which site are you
referring to. On
http://www.lowliferecords.co.uk go to the UK links page (available
from the drop down menu in the top right of the site). Then click the
relevant section and search the lists. If you mean
http://www.britishhiphop.co.uk
I agree it is confusing. Click home at the bottom of almost any page
which takes you to a menu list and the links link is at the bottom.
Clicking this will take you through to the Low Life Records Link Page. I
didn't want to have to maintain two links pages.
I hope this makes sense and is satisfactory.
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ. When
the forums are back online we'll definitely need a moderator. Please
could you get back to me with a bit of info on yourself and state what
you would intend to do and I'll see if that matches with my ideas. Then
we can take it from there. If your ideas are vastly different to mine
we'll have to have a chat to see what we can work out. Do you think the
other textstylers would be happy with your appointment?
You could be subscribed to
the Low Life Records email group and will receive periodic updates from
the label. Unfortunately you can't send messages to the group, but you
can subscribe to the britishhiphop.co.uk email list at Yahoo if you want
to discuss stuff. To subscribe send an email to:
britishhiphop-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
Hope this helps.
Advertising queries
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ. At
the present time I am moving from free banners over to paid advertising,
simply to keep the site going, but at the present time I do not have the
details in place with regard to a pricing structure. If you were to
advertise I would expect any fees to be at the lower end of the scale.
At the present time the site is getting about 300+ unique visitors per
day with up to 1000 page impressions. There is a banner rotation system
on every page. This would expose your banner to a reasonably large and
very specific audience. As for email adverts my list presently only has
about 150 members, so that might be less appealing.
Seeing as I am just thinking about advertising, what would you be
prepared to pay for this?
Off the top of my head - £5 for a mailshot, £10 for a banner for a
month? Does that seem reasonable? If you already do this type of
advertising I would be interested to know where and how much you pay for
it.
Send an email to
mailto:info@britishhiphop.co.uk and we can discuss your
requirements. Once we are in agreement I can pass you the online payment
details.
Thanks again for your interest.
Thanks for getting in
contact. Your offer sounds interesting. As
www.britishhiphop.co.uk is
a not for profit organisation we cannot offer to pay you for advertising
space, but can instead offer reciprocal advertising space on our
website. We can offer a feature / article on the magazine accompanied
with links to your website and or your banner placed in our exclusive
invite only banner rotation system. This would run as long as you gave
us coverage back.
As you are probably aware
www.britishhiphop.co.uk is part of a network of sites which includes
Low Life Records and Independent Pressing and as such is probably the
largest resource for specialist info of its kind and is the second
busiest UK Hip Hop website after ukhh.com with in excess of 350 unique
visitors per day and over 300,000 visitors since 2000. The site
initially came into existence in 1996 and has had various guises over
the years, building to become the strong, authoritative and trusted
online presence you see today.
We are also open to offers of sponsorship and think that you'll find our
rates competitive. Any press info and review copies of the magazine can
be mailed to:
19 Graham Rd,
London
E8 1DA
It may be possible that you were more interested in Low Life Records, in
which case you need to approach
mailto:info@lowliferecords.co.uk.
Thanks again for getting in contact.
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ. It
is real easy for you to get your info up on the site. If you navigate to
the guestbook
there is a space in which you can post up whatever info you want.
Other wise we can run a feature on the site. If we do this it is better
that you make it as easy for me as possible by providing things like
graphics and the text you want to be used. This should not come over
like an advert, but should include info about why the club night
started, its history, what its plans for the future are etc.
We could even think about doing an interview with the people behind the
night or something.
General Queries
Great to get your query.
You must have already checked my site
http://www.britishhiphop.co.uk,
and maybe followed the links off it?
The sites I'm involved with, which'll give you more info on UK artists
include:
http://www.ukhh.com
http://www.lowliferecords.co.uk
http://www.musicfromthecorner.com
http://brit-ish.cjb.net
Other sites I do which you might find interesting include:
http://www.independentpressing.com
http://www.poisonous-music.com
http://www.herc-projects.com
And finally one of the main places to order UK Hip Hop (apart from Low
Life Records) is:
http://www.suspect-packages.com
Thanks for visiting my site
and for taking the time out to mail me. The main Hip Hop shops in London
are:
Central London:
Camden:
There is loads more, but I
hope this helps you.
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ.
Unfortunately if the info isn't on the site I probaly don't have too
much info on the records you are after. I suggest that you get on to
Disorda at
http://www.suspect-packages.com as he has the best selection of UK
Hip Hop for sale and may well be able to give you more info. You could
try Dave the Ruf on http://www.rufmouth.co.uk,
or even Adee at Dope On Plastic in Switzerland
http://www.dopeonplastic.ch, otherwise you probably have to try
second hand shops.
Begging letters
Thanks for visiting my site
and for taking the time out to mail me. I just do the website and can't
really help you with any promo's and stuff. You should contact
mailto:info@lowliferecords.co.uk and see if they can help you out, but
they don't have the budget to send out loads of stuff. You can get a
couple of free tracks @
http://www.mp3.com/braintax
http://www.mp3.com/jehst
http://www.mp3.com/task_force
No. See above.
Record Pressing Queries
Unfortunately my site is
just for info and links to
http://www.independentpressing.com who handle the business. Visit
the site, then contact
mailto:info@independentpressing.com for a proper quote.
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ.
Unfortunately my site is just for info and links to
http://www.independentpressing.com who handle the business. It is
probably going to be prohibitively expensive to press just 10 records as
it is likely that you'll have to pay for a minimum of say 250! And there
are all the upfront costs like getting it cut and making the metalwork.
Maybe £250+!
Visit the site, then contact
mailto:info@independentpressing.com for a proper quote. Maybe it
would be a better bet to get a 10" dub plate cut. That could cost maybe
£80 each, but they do wear out after a few plays. I think Curved
Pressings cut them on a Friday afternoon.
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ . It
is possible to make vinyl from mp3s, but there are several things you
should be aware of. Firstly, you must own the copyright in the mp3s so
that you can legally reproduce them. If you do, there will be several
conversion process you must go through to convert the mp3s to a suitable
format, and you should be aware that mp3 is probably not as good quality
as you might desire for a record. Unfortunately my site is just for info
and links to
http://www.independentpressing.com who handle the business.
Contact
mailto:info@independentpressing.com for a proper quote.
Thanks for passing by my

Unfortunately my site is just for info and links to
http://www.independentpressing.com who handle the business.
Additionally, I'm not really sure as to where you might pick up a record
pressing machine. Nobody really makes them any more. Some people source
them from the former Soviet republics or South America, but the supply
is fast drying up.
Vestax make a record cutting machine, but it is really expensive. You
might also try
http://www.vinylium.ch as these people seem to be really into making
their own records. And there is another site at
http://www.vinylrecorder.com.
I hope this is of some use. Sorry to not be more help.
Other queries
Thanks for passing by my
site and for taking the time out to look up your answer in the FAQ.
Sampling from films can be problematic as there will be so many rights
holders involved. I am not aware of a Film Company Samples clearing
house, although one of the specialists in this field may know who to
turn to. If you got it from a soundtrack I would initially approach the
label it was released on, and it you took it from a video or the telly I
would approach the film company direct. They probably won't want to deal
with you and will charge you far too much money. You may have to get
permission from the actors involved too. If you use it without
permission and they find out they will kill you. Maybe you can try the
MCPS? They can offer advice.
Hope this helps a little. Sorry to not be more help. Good luck.
Thanks for your mail. Sorry
you have experienced a delay. I just do the website, so you need to
contact
info@lowliferecords.co.uk and they should be able to let you know
the score. If the cheque has been cashed, then hopefully your stuff is
on the way. If it hasn't been cashed yet, it could be that the cheque
and order never arrived at the office. Finally what address did you send
the order to? You know Low Life have moved to Devonshire St. in the West
End and are no longer in Shepherds Bush?
Sorry to not be able to confirm what has happened to your order.
