Born through the notion of independent thought and
an ideology that rhymes can tell stories, beats can inspire the novels from
which the rhymes are written and that life itself is actual fact. An abstract
vision yes but this perpetual cycle of creativity and growth has brought
together one reclusive / scientifically inclined producer (Dwyzak the Elevator),
two
loud mouthed yet well versed MC's (Duke01 & Lethargy) and a DJ named Johnny
Crump with a vinyl personality clash and a habit of drowning in the finest ale
from around this green land and beyond.
These four elements combined make the components that are Non-Thespian who serve up
an honest and compelling soundtrack to this consumption driven age of technology
and false £prophets£.
Non-Thespian explain that, 'Through our music we endeavour to embody the root essence of what
Hip Hop music
was (a creative and fresh sound) and now is (A platform of free expression),
then take that train of thought and mould it to our own individual perception's
of what that means to us'. They went on to explain their influences, 'As a group we take inspiration musically from the
likes of Public Enemy, HARDNOISE, Black Sabbath, Radiohead, BDP, Bjork,
Organised Confusion and AC/DC and we have mixed that with the mutual love of
classic sci-fi and horror movies. This infusion has developed a sound with the
sole aim of making music that will reach the listener on all levels'.
Non-Thespian are attacking all senses with well crafted and structurally challenging beats and
lyrical social criticism without forgetting to bring that raw boom bap shit to
smash your speakers to.
So please prepare yourselves for a journey into the sound-scapes of our times.
Whether booming in your home system or channelling live and direct at a live
show in your neighbourhood this is our dark and deep approach to the Hip Hop
sound as you know it.
"Ladies and Gentlemen NON-THESPIAN came here to up rise with you, not for you"...
Group History & Intertwined Discography
Formed in Nottingham 2000 after a previous release under the guise of the Weight
Technicians. The original members consisted of all round hard worker and
producer Dwyz aka Wesker, Stanley King aka Duke Zero One, long standing
microphone veteran, and the turntable skills of DJ Dyslexic later known as Ken
Fader. With the release of the album Prototypical which hit the Nottingham
streets in 2002 to great appraisal and featured guest MC Blugrass and a bonus
track with the tragically defunct Tusken Coalition, they cemented their name as
one of the Midlands class Hip Hop acts this was to be the first chapter in an
ongoing project to push the boundaries of then encroaching UK Hip Hop scene.
That year also saw the Lyricist Hobos project come to its final fruition
featuring MC's Monkey, Blugrass, Diverse and Lethargy. This served as a platform
to bring new artists into the fold. And also gave Dwyzak a chance to combine
more up beat concepts to his production. During this time gigs were the order of
the day, which lead to support slots with artists like Sole, Dalek, Grand
Buffet, Kid Koala and the legendary West Coast rockers Ugly Duckling....
Noise from these guy's corner. The introduction of a new DJ, Nottingham local' Jekyl (BluMonkey / Lyricist hobos) has added a fresh new element to the live shows
as well as causing precision mayhem on the tracks that he chooses to bless. Also
former Tusken Coalitionist, Lethargy has also taken up residency within the camp
and has settled in nicely by bringing his own broken style of lyrical
malignancy. So now with the groups sights firmly set on the release of the second
album titled Prevalent Evil and with the majority of the work near completion
plus a busy gig schedule on top of that as well, it looks like the this
progressive crew ain't stopping to take in a breath, let alone a pause for
reflection.
