UK B-Boy Championships 2002

UK B-Boy Championships 2002Once again it’s on…

This weekend sees the return to Brixton Academy, for the long awaited yearly spectacular that is the 7th Uk Playstation B’Boy Champs 2002.

The event has now outgrown itself, and this year the organisers have taken the decision to split it into 2 days of raw action.

Saturday 5th Oct sees the “One on One” comp with some of the worlds most noted and respected b’boys going head to head for world supremacy.

Sunday 6th Oct is left for the “Crew Battles” and from a man that’s been for the past 4 years, take it from me that seeing is believing, as every year I find myself saying “You shouldn’t be able to bend like that” and “How the fuck?”

So, why should you travel to this years event?

Well read the press statement below…check out the website…watch the video clips and then GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY… Serious, loads of heads were disappointed last year (including a couple of my friends) so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

UK B-BOY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2002
5th & 6th October @ Brixton Academy
£15 one day or £25 both days.

‘The World Cup Of Hip-Hop Events… Welcome To The Greatest Show On Earth ’ (Hip-Hop Connection).

B-Boy Championships 2002Five thousand people packed London’s Brixton Academy last year, for the start of the PS2 UK B-Boy Championships.  Outside, tickets were changing hands for up to £100 pounds & those without, waited for hours in the rain, with no hope of entry to the most anticipated Hip-Hop event of the year. It was SOLD OUT weeks in advance. From its humble beginnings at the Shepherds Bush Empire, seven years before, the events popularity has continued to grow, far exceeding our expectations & leaving us with no other choice than to expand the competition. Whereas previous years have seen both the ‘Solo’ & ‘Crew’ titles fought out on the same day, this year we will dedicate separate days to each.

Day 1: The ‘Solo Title’ will now come of age!

For the first time the Worlds breakin’ elite will meet to establish who is the Supreme B-Boy. We will bring together twenty-four of the most revered dancers, from ten Nations, to fight it out One On One. A truly awesome prospect!

Day 2: Crew Title: Bear witness to the greatest crews on Earth, as they battle on the ultimate stage! Defending Champions, ‘The US Allstars’ will be the team to beat as they build on last years success, but with the strongest line up ever assembled, including the best crews from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Japan & Korea, this years ‘Crew Title’ is wide open!

The Championships is hosted by the now familiar pairing of B-Boy legend - Crazy Legs and Crowd favourite - Afrika Islam. Crazy Legs, who invented many original breakin’ moves, is President of the World famous ‘Rock Steady Crew & an award winning choreographer. The groundbreaking DJ & producer, Afrika Islam is responsible for the seminal Ice-T album, ‘Power’.

As usual, there will be explosive DJ & Live shows by top Hip-Hop acts – Blak Twang, People Under The Stairs, J-Live and Babe Ruth (plus more to confirm).
