 DJ First Aid - DJs - 26/07/07
Hoping to continue the success of his breakthrough track, ‘Devon Cream’, DJ First Aid has seemingly kicked his life in to overdrive. Aid took time out of his increasingly busy schedule to let me know the story of his career so far, what the future holds for Gettin’ Better Records, and how he’s glad to have played a part in the legacy for a ‘local legend’.

 Disablists - DJs - 04/10/06
What’s got six hands, five turntables, three mixers, a humungous spliff and more than their share of talent? Three-time UK DMC team champs The Disablists, that’s what. The trio of Asian Hawk, The Mighty Atom and Clever Monkey have fast risen to the top of their competitive discipline by paying as much attention to showmanship and musicality as to cold technique. Keen to please the crowd and turn rivals green with envy in equal measure, The Disablists are an uncommonly extraverted trio of deejays whose routines strive to secure recognition for the turntable as a legitimate musical instrument. Pootle spoke with group member Mighty Atom about their gear, their good luck rituals and a whole crate of other deejay-related topics.

 DJ 279 - DJs - 14/09/06
279 is perhaps a name more familiar to Londoners than heads across the country, but this is one DJ who has served his time in the Hip Hop community and deserves respect for it. Long established as one of London’s favourite DJ’s due to his show on Choice FM, and for his pivotal role in selflessly promoting new talent. Here is the long awaited – and a bit overdue, UKHH interview with DJ 279.

 Dr Butcher - DJs - 25/08/06
Hip hop history is a rocky word of mouth terrain, with many a foundation participant overlooked, or edited out of history. Dr. Butcher is just such an example. The Corona Queens native was born in the thick of the golden era Over the years he's done cuts for Kool G Rap, got a spot in the X-men and he’s also produced the Artifacts, Kool G Rap, Akinyele, MF Grimm, Coolio and several video games, commercials and movie scores. The good Doctor has a bunch of tricks in his blood-splattered apron, so we got an appointment and this is his diagnosis....

 Andy Smith - DJs - 02/08/06
Though Andy Smith is most widely known as the "Portishead DJ", he is a remarkable talent in his own right. With a string of his own "Document" mix albums already in circulation and last year's "Andy Smith's Northern Soul" mix, Andy is poised to make more waves in the industry in 2006 with his new "Trojan Document" out now on Trojan Records so Gentle Jones hooked up to get a resume and an update...

 C2C - DJs - 28/06/06
UKHH.com couldn't leave the DMC heats without linking one of the C2C (Coup 2 Cross) crew for a quick chat with about the Euro hip hop scene and the super secret C2C album that will drop late 06 or early 07. Tony Camara exchanged Anglo-French pleasantries…

 DJ Rasp - DJs - 26/06/06
DJ Rasp from St Helens, Merseyside is the DJ for the Liverpool group the Shakti and the Leeds regional DMC heat winner 2006. Tony Camara caught up with him just after he had collected his prizes for a quick Northern connection in action - representing in the north West…

 DJ A-Trak - DJs - 02/05/06
A couple of years ago K-Per went to meet A-Trak after an in store at Deal Real in London. 2 days later A-Trak had got a gig as Kanye West’s tour DJ following the in store, and 2 years later he’s been on the road with Kanye non stop, got the Dipset to rhyme on a track for his album, done cuts for Common’s ‘Be’ LP and generally managed to establish a link between hip hop and tablism where most haven’t.

 DJ IQ - DJs - 21/04/06
If you haven’t heard of DJ IQ you can be forgiven…but only just. With his debut LP set to drop this summer (which includes a number of tasty collaborations) UKHH.com’s latest interviewer Straika went down and spoke to this young pretender about his dedication to the game…

 Grand Wizard Theodore - DJs - 14/12/05
Grand Wizard Theodore is hailed as the 13 year old that invented one of the first scratch techniques with the ‘needle drop’. Grandmaster Flash was in the same crew as Theodore’s older brother Mean Gene Flash apparently saw the potential in the young boy and taught GWT what he knew about playing records and the rest they say is history….. If you’ve watched Wildstyle you’ll have seen Grand Wizard Theodore representing the Fantastic Five and squaring up against DJ Charlie Chase of the Cold Crush Brothers...but this time we left it simple n' put him up against ukhh.com's own Molly Malone...

 DJ Woody - DJs - 23/09/05
As one of the UK’s best and most underrated DJs, Woody has been hard at work over the last few years carving a name for himself as well as moving on from his battling heydays. The fact that Vadim chose Woody as the DJ backbone for the One Self shows and album is no surprise, after all he really is one of the best. Here’s Woody, speaking to K-Per on One Self, recent projects, scratching, the scene and the new Vestax melody turntable...

 DJ Supreme - DJs - 09/08/05
Referred to as god by Qbert and Jesus by Primecuts, Supreme really was years ahead of many people. Hijack had such an impact on the UK scene at the time and since that when the chance came up to catch up with the legend there was no way we could miss it. Kper paid no attention to his phone bill and called the man up to find out some more about the crew’s history, ahead of the release of the Hijack documentary, ‘Turntable Trixters’, take a trip down memory lane or a lesson in history depending on your age with the one and only DJ Supreme....

 DJ First Rate - DJs - 21/07/05
As ex-Scratch Pervert First Rate should be no stranger to you. And now his album is out, entitled ‘Walky Talkyz’ so there’s never been a better time for K-Per to catch up with the man and find out what he’s been up to. So on one of the hottest days of the year they sat in the shade with a tall glass of cold water and got some words from First Rate on the album, touring, and tour shenanigans, live shows and what the future holds...

 DJ Babu - DJs - 21/06/05
This year sees Babu step up his efforts even more with a fourth Dilated album, full production credits on the LJs, an extensive tour with Rakaa and more to come still. Kper dutifully waited for Babu to come back from tour before calling up his mobile and getting the other side to the Likwit Junkies story...

 DJ Numark Interview - DJs - 16/06/05
Following on from our Blendcrafters interview last summer, Kper caught up with one half of the outfit, Numark, to find out what’s new with the project and with the man in general. In between talks of Atkins Diet, why bread is evil and what’s nice on the restaurant’s menu we managed to get words from Uncle Nu on sampling, the Keepintime project, the new single, Carol Kaye and the new J5 LP.

 DJ Skully Interview - DJs - 03/06/05
DJ Skully is one of the foremost hip-hop DJs in the UK. Having won nearly every DJ title available, and a regular slot on Kiss 100 fm, the man really needs no introduction. Lingo & Nikesh met up with Skully in Soho for a chat and a Poetry night…

 Rob Swift Interview - DJs - 28/04/05
So he’s left the X, finished a new album, got John Carluccio to create a DVD based on it, he’s been touring and in between, Rob Swift managed to sit down with K-Per in London and tell us what he has in store for the future. One of the nicest man it’s been our pleasure to meet and one hell of an interesting artist speaks on...

 DJ Biznizz Interview - DJs - 15/04/05
He’s not one to court the limelight, but he’s been at the forefront of this UK hip hop ‘Biznizz’ since the early 80s, starting out as a break dancer in Covent Garden, DJing with some group called the London Posse, touring with luminaries such as The Jungle Brothers and winning the DMC UK Team Championship. Mike caught up with DJ Biznizz after a hard day’s rehearsal to chat about some of his ventures, past and present...

 DJ Format Interview - DJs - 06/04/05
DJ Format has been around for a while. Straight out of Brighton Format made a name for himself through his contributions to the Return of the DJ and the Lessons series. Since his first album in early 2000s, 'Music for the Mature Bboy' Format was sent back to the studio for his follow up, 'If you can't join em... beat em', which is being released this month. So K-Per caught up with the man for a brew and a chat about why he is not really good at scratching and also if his sister really is that good looking....

Mix Master Mike Interview - DJs - 07/02/05
Mixmaster Mike is a legend in the world of DJing but not necessarily for all the right reasons. He’s won world titles, he’s been part of the most famous DJ crew in history, been the Beastie Boys’ DJ, etc., yet he’s also known as a crazy motherfucker. So has time really soothed the Serial Wax Killer or is just a ploy? K-Per headed down to meet him after his London gig with the Beastie Boys in December 04 to try and find out, be warned this interview contains non-sense and irony...

 Tony Vegas Interview - DJs - 06/02/05
The Scratch Perverts' rise to fame has been as unusual as their world famous DJ sets. From a loose collective of 8 to a strong team of 3 (Tony Vegas, Primecuts and Plus One). As such it was time for K-Per to head down to Fabric and have a chat with Tony Vegas to find out what the Perverts have in store for 2005.

 Jazzy Jeff Interview - DJs - 19/12/04
Jazzy Jeff is a legend who needs very little introduction. Having played a big part in pioneering the turntablist artform and DJ culture back in the late 80s and early 90s, K-Per managed to catch up with him in November this year when he once again visited London, this time to play his part in the Perverts Beatdown held at fabric. Find out what the Magnificent has been up to since last year, what he's got planned for 05 and more...

 X-Ecutioners Interview - DJs - 20/11/04
The X are back, minus one member (Mista Sinista), and with a new album called Revolutions. K-Per had the chance to catch up with them following their recent visit to London which included an historical participation to the Frank Zappa tribute night and a rammed out gig at Cargo.
