When people think of Bristol music two things come to mind; Massive Attack
and Drum and Bass, but unknown to a lot of the UK out there, there is
actually a thriving Hip Hop scene. ‘Unknown’ is the point of my feature.
Most of Bristol Hip Hop MC’s, DJ’s and Producers are relatively unknown to
the rest of the UK, but definitely not due to lack of talent but to lack and
maybe laziness of websites, forums and magazines to travel further than
outside of London to find something to write about. Fair enough there maybe
be big things happening in London, but open your ears and eyes to the
different sounds of Bristol Hip Hop. There is KNERS who has been played on
BBC’s 1xtra for months now, SIR PLUS and The EPEDIMICS who are signed to
Full Cycle, Soulja Clique had the likes of Rodney P and Klashnekoff on their
Baggamics 2 LP, Awkward who has his fingers in all the Hip Hop pies, from
Djing to Graff... and so many more. This feature will educate you and
entertain you, but it will definitely not bore you! Bristol will definitely
bring it to you lively!

Bristol; she created the all female Hip Hop crew Dutty
Girl. Dutty Girl have put on big acts such as Graziella, Tali, C-Mone
and many more! Dutty Girl don’t just put on a monthly night they also
have a clothing line too! These ladies are holding it down for females
in Bristol and beyond!

Safesoul met up with
KNERS in a local pub for
a chat about Bristol City or should I
say Cristal City. This guy is being played regularly on 1xtra with firm
support from Rodney P & Skitz, Semtex and of course Nesha! (The host of
his Mix tape, I AM KNERS). Along with holding down a 9-5, KNERS is
working hard to put Bristol on the map for more than Drum&Bass and
Massive Attack.
