RukusIn Bristol there is only one place to be if you want some raw UK and US Hip Hop....... there’s going to be a Rukus! Rukus is a monthly Hip Hop and D&B night, which rocks the legendary boat that is the Thekla. Rukus has been running now for four years started by Harry Mitchell. Rukus started out as a bi-monthly Drum and Bass night putting on DJs such as Andy C and MC’s such as MC Det and Fearless. In the summer of 2004 Hip Hop became the main genre of the evening and that’s when it really kicked off. Artists such as Foreign Beggars, DJ Vadim, Klashnekoff, Task Force and Jehst graced the boats stage. Every night is busy with ravers to industry heads to just plain raw Hip Hop fans.

Rukus also has a tight hook up with Addict Clothing. This is all started with a Addict Tour hit the Thekla with artists DJ Yoda, Dan Greenpeace, Koobs and MC Wrec in 2003, every since then Addict have provided giveaways at various nights to keep your style in check!

May 12th marks ten years of Addict and Rukus and Addict have hooked up again to provide one hell of a party with Nextmen and Yungun, Mr Thing, Sub Focus and DJ Johnston. Expect free giveaways and some seriously good vibes. The 26th May sees Rukus teaming up with Idleminds Records for a special charity event with all proceeds going to Basement Project. Artists you can expect to see are: Deadly Hunta, Harry Love and Verb T, Jon Kennedy and Annon Lee and loads, loads more.

For all you non-Bristol heads reading this make your way down the M4 and experience a special delight that is Rukus.
