One of the most chilled humblest people I’ve met out here would be Autism, but when he hits the booth or the stage he switches to something altogether different. If you like your hip hop crazy, violent and fucking hyper Autism’s your man, but don’t get it twiss, none of this is at the sake of flows or lyric’s which he has in abundance.
State your name and occupation
Autism The Muthafucking Wordsmith - Hardcore MC
You been doing this a while yeah? What took so long to get a release out?
Yeah for about fifteen years. Everything has to be perfect with my shit. I can’t drop anything unless I know I am shitting on everybody. It's war out here.

"

The E.P was marketed as the 'hardest shit to ever come out of Australia'? Did this cause you any problems, did anyone feel like they had to prove something
It probably made a lot of MC's feel they have to prove something. But it didn't cause me any problems coz every MC in Australia knows I’m the hardest and I can punch their fucking heads in.
In a time where there's loads of mc's saying they did this or that and not really being real to themselves, its quite safe to say you're one of the realest out there. What do u say to those artists basically talking shit?
To the artists talking shit - "Stop lying cause the real heads will pull your skirt right up". I've already seen it before, rappers act like their hard and shit, then they get declared (called out) and their canceling shows and hiding under there beds. This shit does happen, and in Melbourne as well. When I big note myself and talk about being the best, I do it hoping someone will step up so I can hurt ‘em because I'm negative and I want bad shit to happen. (laughs).
You have a very aggressive style on the mic, but you're quite a chilled person off it...where does that all that aggression come from mate?
I guess I'm chilled in person cause I treat others as they treat me. It's a rule. The aggression comes from Hip-Hop being my outlet for it. And from the fact I find aggy shit entertaining. I like watching and listening and telling violent stories and shit like that. I just find it exciting and fun.
So the name Autism yeah? Some people might not be aware that you actually have a form of autism yeah? Can you tell us a little about this and how it has affected your music
Yeah I grew up with some autistic personality traits one of which is obsessing heavily on the things I care about - like music for example. When I was younger I wrote a track called Autistic Wordsmith and it touched on the topic. So I just changed my name to AUTISM THE WORDSMITH. When I was younger I did a lot of speech therapy and shit cause I couldn't speak fluently like the other kids so these days that name makes me feel like I accomplished something.
Sonically your record sounds very polished - you've got some real nice production...what are you looking for in a beat generally?
Well with the E.P, it was hard cause I needed the craziest, hypest bangers I could get but at the same time have enough variety to make it a diverse listen. With the new shit I'm working on it’s the same deal but this time much more difficult because I'm trying to go one billion times harder, hyper, faster and tougher. So in a nutshell I just look for bangers when it comes to production. Nothing else.

For those who don’t know, the Melbourne hip hop and graffiti scene's are quite closely linked...you've been a part of the graf scene for a while too...what you get into first and what’s your preferred element?
I got into ‘em at the same time through dudes like Aswon Posse, Def Poets Society, and Def Wish Cast - all pioneering groups that were writers. I don’t consider myself a writer although I have done a bit of graff over the years but writers these days are dedicated train painters - I'm only an mc to be fair.
You recently spent some time in the UK, how u find that? have a good time?
Yeah man London is crazy! I had a mad time over there. Birmingham is ill as well. I only wish I could have seen more. I'm looking forward to getting back there that’s for sure.
So what’s next for Autism
I'm currently working on the full length follow up to Five Tracks Of Adrenaline. Everything is coming along good and this time I can do all the things I couldn't fit onto the EP. So it’s shaping up a lot faster than expected. It’s all the same sort of production by the same producers as the EP but this time lyrically I got some more conceptual type joints which was refreshing to write.
I remember u once describing your live show as being a 'freak show'. What did u mean by this?
Hahaha every time I rhyme live I get this mad nervous energy and I bug the fuck out and do some skitso wanna kill everyone in the room type shit. I always feel like I’m freakin out so I call it the freak show.
Any shouts?
Yeah big shout out to Suspect Packages for supplying my shit over there and also big shout to Mista Montana from CONSPIRACY WORLDWIDE - one of the dopest shows ever.
