Breakin Point is a new mag to me - although it has been around for a good while - well this current volume of issues is six deep. The mag looks at dance n' hiphop from a non-bullshit stance - examining different angles through a diverse range of features, reviews, intas and articles. Overall the quality is good - this current issue has a nice little chat with both Skitz and Blak Twang - all the writing is very positive and the reviews have a healthy balance of vibe to make you wanna check them releases when they drop. The articles hit a wide range of topics which keeps the flavour froming seeming cluttered and if the quality dont dip over 50-odd pages then in my eyes that makes a good light read. The mag has got good clear stylistics - the layout is easy to see through and there aint none of them Art Ed gone mad background pics which mean you cant even read the fuckin text. But yeh overall its stylish - this issue was blammed in silverised images n' text n' you cant fuck with that really....proper fresh. The mag aint that over weighty but it comes with a free CD (this time a dapper Mr Thing hiphop mix - with LOADS of quality uk ish on it). Oh yeh and thats another thing - this mag blatently supports MUSIC in general without a nod to geography - and on that one theres balance and of course UK hiphop gets its propers where due. All this for well under £2.51??....yup its nicely done.
