 Stealth Mag

 Stealth Magazine Volume 2 Issue 1 £2.50-ish
with CD (8 audio tracks, 6 videos)

This issue features among nuff stuff: Celsius, JZone, Cypress Hill, Tony Touch, Taskforce, KilaWattz, Nuffsaid, Diaz, etc, etc.

Stealth is an Australian based magazine that is currently four issues deep. This is the first one I've managed to check out for proper cos they've sorted it out and got copies over here to Europe for the first time. I'm told that Issue 5 should be more widely available - and after perusing the pages of this fine publication - this makes me happy for us all!!!!

Nah for true - it's a wicked and professional magazine that takes an all elements perspective in breakin down many many many different diversities from a truly worldwide stance. For example this issue covers different crews n' events from France, England, Australia, USA, Canada, Norway and Japan - to me that's fairly comprehensive for one 75 page mag innit. All this diversity is all locked down into your cortex with good well written features, comprehensive reviews, proper articles and researched inta's - all within a well designed layout which comes gleaming for your eye.

This all comes complete with a frontcover Cd-rom which also holds down the global flavour. Musically there is contributions from Oztralia ( "Celsius","Jase" and "The Various Artists"), UK ("Braintax & Taskforce" - DAMN!!!), and the US ("Them", "Sole" and "Primeridian"). Cinematically it aint to bad either with films followin about Jzone, Braintax, Ozomatli, and the Swollen Members.

To cut off others at the knees the mag looks fresh n' all - I'm thinkin the Dulux dog took a slash on the Art Directors knee…. cos this thing COLOUR packed!!! I'm liking it too. But it seems it aint just me cos this thing is getting kinda big and is turning heads like a gruff in a lift. For example - during the last print run they moved 20,000 units (that's techie speak for 137 mags sold!) - nah seriously this mag is properly working hard to make global moves so its time somebody in the UK started stocking and distributing this for proper.

On a ukhh.com tip though - the coverage of the UK deserves merit. For definite propers are giving cos for a Australian based mag which doesn't have proper distribution over here to be covering UK releases, interviewing, and generally writing, and researchin out Uk stuff like: Procryptix, The Creators, Wildflower, Taskforce, The Pioneers vid, and Braintax. This is proper. Big it up.

The most truthful praise I can say is that I learnt a lot from the mag. Which makes it a proper read n' stops it becoming tomorrows bog roll.

This is definitely Highly Highly recommended. Go check yourself a copy of Issue 4 if you can find it. IF not then just wait for #5 to drop in Spring 2001. In the meantime check their website for some Digital B-Boy Terrorism in action - http://www.stealthmag.com.
