Mr 45 is a veteran of the
Notts hip hop scene. He’s done a lot in the music
world, from Mobo nominations to touring Europe. He has
collaborated with many artists too (from L Fudge to Kalashnekoff).
Chris Byrne caught up with him for a quick update:
What are you up to musically at the moment?
At the moment just finishing a few projects. Just finished the
video for 'My Lover (Babygirl)' featuring myself and Denzee,
another Streetbeats banger!! Went to ATL to hookup with a label
over there so we working on a few projects. We're off to LA to
do some label and film business and I'm gonna do another music
video out there, so all in all we're just keeping it moving. The
music just gets better and better.
If for example if a label doesn't make
a piece of music (i.e back catalogue) commercially available,
does that in principle give bootleggers and downloaders a green
light to go ahead?
It's all a part of the game - you use a sample cause you think
its hot, then you make a hot track with it. We're all business
minded so later we can come to an agreement. Bootleggers that
bootleg your stuff must think you're hot so thats marketing and
downloading big thing - just make sure you pay sometimes. P.S.
Bootleggers - "Try suttin’ I turn your face into chop mutton!!"
Don't let the team catch you cos we're everywhere!
How important are community studios in
the UK to hip hop and the wider community?
Without those community studios alot of artists would not have
music or careers, and for the youth coming up now, it gives them
a place to go and achieve their dreams so its very important!!!
Big Up to Take1, Rhino, Footprint, MB, CBarba and Big Trev; all
these are doing big things with community studios.

"...It's
Nottz man, 4ziggy I'm the Boss man / I don't really wear Air
force, I'm more Lacoste man!!..."
Is 1Xtra for the rich?
No way! 1Xtra is for who wants to listen. You like the music,
you listen. There is no class, just music lovers.
What has been the impact of the UK
Takeovers on the Notts scene?
The impact has been great!! It has heightened the music scene
even more in Nottingham plus giving more people the chance to
gig.
Is 'hip hop' now a meaningless term,
like 'urban'?
Hip Hop can never be a meaningless term, because you can only
live Hip Hop!! Urban is a part of Hip Hop it is like a tree it
has many branches Urban is one them.

"...45
in the building!!! Nottz’ finest, UK's Greatest. Ya Get Me!!..."
Anything you would like to add?
Look out for the 'My Lover (Babygirl)' video on Base UK, Base
Europe and Channel U and single's dropping soon Cop that!! Any
