QED
I got chatting to V.E.X about his views, loves &
sexual/religious preferences. The “Big scary black man of rap”
is rocking mics hard giving them shaken babies syndrome with his
stories of gun clapping, Thieving & gratuitous violence against
your mother. He has the dope shit and he is just giving it away
for free. These exclusive pictures are quality too.
Who is V.E.X?
V.E.X. is the convicted stabber released bro. Nah ok,
serious...right now I'm someone very happy with the attention
I'm gettin after almost nine yrs of spittin and happy that
finally I'm gettin some interview love from UKHH. Props to them
and to you my good man.
Ok, who am I, I'm a proud dad, a hungry emcee from Luton, I live
in a make believe cartoon O.G. Gangster world. Early 90's Compton
Gangster from Luton and gettin GTA San Andreas recently on XBOX
hasn't helped. Now I'm livin it for real homes I'm not even
gettin out of the room these days. Single overweight and playing
games at 25+ not going out at weekends to play GAMES! That's why
me and everything I do is gangster.
I'm someone who lives for my Daughter I want to make her proud,
I got no grades no nothing and I want to make her proud so it's
a challenge. My first task is to be the best Dad and secondly to
get her anything she wants in the world. I can only do that
through entertainment cos I'm an actual clown, in a circus an
actual clown juggling on a unicycle with big floppy shoes on,
with everyone laughin. So rap music is my first outlet, ima plug
away at this rap ting till I get something from it. I want some
of that Dizzee Rascal, Streets money, you know what I mean? I
can see myself there. If nothing comes from the rap I'll
ghost write or tap dance in the street in pants. I can only make
the kind of money I want from being a loon or jackin mans, and I
got a daughter so I'm not goin no where near anything that's
gonna get me close to a Jail Cell anymore. It has to be the
Music so buy my shit.
What/Who is Samebrain Entertainment?
Real gat pullers. Same Brain is my crew for six years or so now,
my peoples, the real. We gots Redmaster the Abbott, a proper
rhyming expert, most well known and respected by people outside
of us out of the crew I'd say. The kinda emcee that knows inside
out how to rhyme proper. His whole timin and cadence kicked me
back in the day to step my shit up. He's also making the best
beats out of this country I'm hearing right now. His new LP is
the best shit I've heard from this country, I know he's in my
crew but it just is, sorry, so when he makes the 50 cent money,
we can all eat off him, as opposed to putting effort in
ourselves.
Ok Slinga one of the best rappers in the country, whose got a
mixtape comin soon and who dropped classic absolute fuckin
classic verses on Mandroids. Even tho that was way back and his
style is more advanced now, I still ain't heard nothing in rap to
match his creativeness on there. He's been spittin here and
there, I'm buggin him to get his shit sorted. He dropped a verse
on a song called Snowstorms...just check that...just check it.
And his character play on the Mixtape song we did "Ur Lying" was
crazy, spot on nameen. He's got a Mixtape droppin 2005.
Crucafix one of the only emcees who scares me lyrically,
actually roasting me on my own shit on the tape. Vocab sick,
grasp of the language is proper deep and you can hear it in his
raps. Proper proper lyrical, that Canibus Mic Club shit. Yeh Fix
is sick. Shit man, ima kill him.

I wouldn't steal now, I'm trying to set an example, as
you can hear from my extremely violent offensive, sexist and
overtly aggressive music.
And Bounce most mans will know as his old name Tsunami. He's
chillin on the rhymes at the moment but he burst back with the
drop on the new mixtape killin it, the live battler in SB who is
sick as hell. Knows how to eat a mic typa emcee nameen? He spits
like a razor, nameen cuttin sharp delivery. He's flames. All
London cats, I'm the Luton representer but it's only 30 min from
London on train so it's nuttin.
There's a SB Mixtape which is all original beats produced by
Redmaster which we're in the studio for now. That's our first
kinda presentation to the world. Then after that it's all go
this year. Kickin off with the Mixtape ting I just done.
What do you love about Luton the most?
The mix of people, like it's a mini central London down to a
tee. Like if you walk through the town centre you ain't gonna see
no group of people of the same. There's African mans, Asian,
Kosavans, Chinese, White, it's nice man. I been here all my life
that's why I dropped what nine or ten songs about it now? Each
song saying the same shit but I love the place man. Would never
leave.
Where are the easiest places to teef from?
Subway is the top, you can take bare drinks. Cos the fridge is
right next to the door, they assume you're gonna pay for it, the
dicks. Get your Sub and take a drink from the fridge sit down
with your sub, drink your stolen drink and actually walk out.
Even a member of SB picked up on that when they repped Luton and
stole from there. If you want a free drink go to Subway in Luton
and to the refrigerator near the door. Buy a packet of crisps or
suttin though or they'll scope you. Or alternatively just yoink
a drink from the fridge in front of everyone and run out.
Then there's Bury Park. One fruit store across from Barclays on
Dunstable road man. You can walk past it and actually pick up a
crate of Melons and no one will notice. Stand at the shop window
eating the fruit like a meal and no one will notice. That's not
even a challenge.
HMV I'd say is good, sorry but most of their CDs blatantly have
no detection trips in the sticker tag that says "security
protection" Not in Luton anyway. Just run a thumb along it, if
it creases then teef kid. The queue is always long so just pick
up suttin anyway stand like your queuing then pretend to get
impatient put it down and walk out with your CD wrapped in your
Magazine, it's not even funny. Make sure the strip is gone.

Most other UK rappers will support but I'm making music
for people who don't rap as well. I want people who aren't into
UK rap or somehow involved in the scene to check me out too for
goodness sake.
Greggs is wicked cos the queue at Lunchtimes is out the door.
It's across from Halifax. In fact, I'd put that at the top cos
I've taken nuff stuff. This was when I was signin on for 9
months, I don't now cos I'm working. But when I was signing on I
had a new kid and after id got her stuff I got real tight with
what I had remaining so. Yeh have fun and listen to Teef in your
headphones for a guided tour, start at the Galaxy centre then
follow the song. Now my daughter is growing tho I'm good. I
wouldn't steal now, I'm trying to set an example, as you can
hear from my extremely violent offensive, sexist and overtly
aggressive music.
Why are there so many references to guns & violence in your
tracks?
Brap, brap! I was speaking with Red about this today, and I see
myself as an entertainer, as opposed to some dude arrogantly
thinking people are gonna like some standard boring rhymes I may
be spittin, more than the next mans. A lot of UK rappers think
just cos they can rap, that means people want to hear them.
Nope. It don't work like that. Just cos you yourself like your
Canibus style rhymes, or just because you can rhyme words
doesn't
mean everyone else is gonna give a shit about it. That may be
why there's a lot of boring UK rappers who don't get it, think
they're really good, but they're not bringing anything. When I
speak about more than just standard rapping Universal Soldiers
are a good example, they are like head and shoulders above a lot
of acts from here, cos they got mad energy and entertain with
the rap. Checked the new UK runnings thing, and they kill that
man, cant get past the track, it's heavy. But they proper live,
not just spit half asleep. Also mans like Mystro and so on, they
know a rhyme needs more than to just...rhyme.
I'd say I see myself even like a film director or script writer.
I write whatever the fuck I want to, that I think sounds good.
Then I present it to people as an Audio film that's four or five
minutes of fun. That's why I do a lot of stupid Adlibs, that's
the reason for the weird noises I do n shit. To help create the
image I'm scripting. It's all film or adult cartoon. When I say
"I'll shoot you with a gun as big as one of the Twin Towers" or
some shit like that, it's because I enjoy the image. Not because
I'm a lowlife who wants to kill someone, and have their family
actually crying and going to a funeral, because I killed a male
member of their family with a gun as big as one of the Twin
Towers. Why would I actually want to go to prison? be locked
away from my kid for the rest of my life. Guns kill, my rhymes
don't. And that's real like J-Lo, blood.
You can tell if I'm being serious with my intentions or not.
Anyone who thinks I'm trying to be a real gang banger cos I say
suttin like "my gun fires a bullet bigger than the one that
chased Mario on the Snes (that bullet was about 100 foot tall
and 50 foot wide compared to Mario) anyone who thinks that's
trying to be Gangster is a dick head. You can hear if I'm bein
serious or not "Boy Soldiers" and "The Loaded" which is erm...about
me wanting to shoot mans is all truth, everything I say in that
song is truth. Outside of those type of songs, I'm a film
director using words and great backing music to create a film
for the listener. As Cage put it best "Movies for the blind"
that's a wicked LP title innit. That's why my music is as it is.
Because I enjoy writing extreme, what you want me to rap about?
Daniel Ranger-Holt? My life ain't exiting enough to rap about,
I've only killed a few peeps and now I'm allowin all that so
what else? So I make entertainment. Not all entertainment, some
shits real like the Trai song on the website but most is
entertainment.
However I must admit, over the last 4 or so years I've got right
back into Gangster rap N.W.A., Ice - T Iceberg is the best LP
you'll ever hear. Ice T is dope on his old stuff man...I used to
hate old school Gangster rap now I love it...so that's the real
reason in fact. Cos I like to pretend I'm a fucking actual
Gangster. There I said it.

I'd smack Mos Def ...cos he irritates me.
Why did you decide to drop the MHP Mixtape for free?
Cos I'm still unknown, a small few people know of me but outside
of that, why should someone pay for a product when they don't
know the MC? You cant say to "support the scene" cos
that's
unfair, what if I'm rubbish? Most other UK rappers will support
but I'm making music for people who don't rap as well. I want
people who aren't into UK rap or somehow involved in the scene
to check me out too for goodness sake. This is the most
expensive thing I've EVER done but hopefully it will pay off with
support and people buying my shit when its in the stores. If not
then at least it's got my name about. It's not an LP, it's no
where near as structured, it's just as many songs as I could fit
over jacked beats so there's more chance the listener will find
something on there they like. Kinda like a gamble of songs on my
part. And if peeps like the whole shit from start to finish
that's a blessing and I am grateful to them. Hoping they spread
the word. People are more likely to take a chance with something
if it's free, even if I charged a pound it's still long for some
people. Not at shows but it is if I'm tryna promote it over the
net. Who can be fucked to get a pound postal order for one
friggin pound which don't cover the costs anyway and then an
S.A.E. and then etc etc . So if I'm givin it free on the net then
it's free elsewhere. It's caned me but in the long run hopefully
it will be worth it.
Who you got on there?
All of Same Brain, Logan who is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick, I had to
get him on there. Lookin to work more with him in the future,
way too much talent. Nayfe & Ramathon two Bristol cats who are
better than like anyone I've heard from the new breed of emcees
I've peeped. Dudes are sick. Die Verse who came out of a kinda
retirement to drop shit. Everyone feels that dude, he's sick.
I've never ever, ever heard him come weak on anything, proper
original and Menace of Hoodz Underground reached as well,
couldn't believe it man. He's like superstar status to me, proper
respect his crew. He showed love and it was a mutual respect
ting, you cant not like Menace cos he's fuckin dope haha so he
repped. Also Beyonce from Destiny's Child is on there, and that
track is original, we actually did it. Not some cut n paste
ting. Word up homey.
What have you got planned for the rest of 2005?
Bloodkin its ON. SB man finally we been goin on about SB for
time, and finally. I think the Big SB releases for this year
will be The SB Mixtape I mentioned earlier and Redmasters LP. I
don't see myself dropping this year to be honest. Thus the MHP
Mixtape was born to tide myself and those who like my music
over. I dunno, I've got 10 songs done and only want to add what
two or three more. But this year seems too close, there's a lot
that needs to be done. I don't want to rush nuttin so we'll see.
Saying that though the mixtape Buzz is huge and I'm eternally
grateful for the interest and support, so I don't want to waste
the high. Maybe some big label owner should sign me so I can
quit work and finish it next week. That's the shit I need. The G
shit. When I'm happy with what I got, I'll release it.

However even now being single,
I can see that I couldn't
keep the deception up thinking Islam is the truth for long.
You quit rap earlier this year and took to religion, are you
glad you came back and why do you think Islam wasn’t for you?
I was with the love of my life for seven years, we were like
twins. She is someone I still love as strongly as I did when we
were together. We had some very bad arguments and she hurt me
very badly in the relationship but in return I took her for
granted. These arguments peaked around the time of my daughters
birth so we decided to split for her. I was looking into
religion at the time of this split as some kind of escape. I
mean I'd always from day one had an interest in religion and
life. I'd been an Agnostic, my first crew was called Atheist
Deities so the interest was always there. But I'd kept the
interest safe, not like taking over my life. Anyways, as a way
of escapin the problems we were having instead of stayin with it
and trying to work through the very difficult period me and my
girl had, I left because I felt the split should be permanent
and Allah was calling. He wasn't at all. God how the Muslims
perceive him to be, doesn't exist at all in my eyes. I just
wanted to escape, but at the time all the reading I'd done into
Islam previously made me feel like this was my calling.
They say every new Muslim has a test, mine was surviving the
pain of leaving my Family. And also turning down the interest I
was getting in my music at the time. Because I'd just launched
the web site and even had some labels speaking with me. All of
this I thought was a test, and was "Allahs calling", from then
on turned fully practicing Muslim. I learned Arabic, studied
Qur'an read the Hadiths (Lifestyle of the Islamic Prophet
Mohammed) grew a full beard, offered prayer fives a day and
added additional prayers so I was at it six or so times a day. I
just became a hermit to block myself out. I bought over 100
books on Islam, read them all. Became an expert in Dawah (Spreadin
the word of Islam) all in the space of a year. Because I was
also studying Islam when I was with my girl cos I knew things
were bad with us then.

I tried emailing her to do a song but
I think I put her
off by saying I love her n shit
Then as time went on I felt the pull back to my family stronger
and also couldn't ignore the massive gaping holes in the
religion and the pieces that didn't fit. Errors in Qur'an (the
literal word of god in the Muslims eyes) and the supposed
science that sadly isn't really there. The hundreds of
disturbing things in the reliable Hadith about The Prophet. It
felt more like a system put in place 1400 yrs ago for those
people. As opposed to the literal word of God. Islam calmed me
down as a person but that's about it. Besides that it did nothing
for me. I'd like to blame it for me being split from my girl but
it was my fault for being dumb enough to split for good instead
of a break. However even now being single, I can see that I
couldn't keep the deception up thinking Islam is the truth for
long. Islam is the peak of the religions because a soft side is
presented, the real Islam is a lot darker. Luckily most Muslims
follow the soft side of it. I was Sunni Muslim the original
branch.
Technically speaking according to Islamic Shariah law, I should
be killed. As an apostate when you leave Islam you have three
days to repent, otherwise its the death sentence. But now I
drink alcohol for no reason and go to dirty Ragga clubs again,
just to stick a thumbs up sign in their faces like wooooooo.
Still don't touch the pork tho...hahah no one like pigs haha
nasty fuckers. Actual hated animal existing on the earth looking
stupid haha stupid things.
What is the most important thing in your life now?
My daughter Kenya, when I was told to love Allah & The Prophet
Mohammed more than my own daughter, which is said in Qur'an and
Hadith that shit just didn't sit at all with me. It just all
went down hill from there. I'm deeply sorry to Muslims reading
this but the dangerous thing for them is I know Islam backwards,
because it's all I studied and all I did for a very long time in
seclusion. Over 100 books on Islam, all that knowledge of the
religion and it holes and flaws and nothing to do with it. Right
now religions can jump. I believe in intelligent creation but
that's about it. Everything else is my daughter my daughter my
daughter. And supporting her Mother who is raising my child
perfect, she's a wonderful mum. I'm lucky for that. I know nuff
mans stuck wid stupid beans for baby mommas which when you
really think about it is horrible, so I'm cool there.
If you could smack a rapper who would it be?
Ho ho, ask peeps who knew me three or four years ago and they
all would have said the same person. Right now, no one. Cos I'm
not beefin no more. I've grown up since those tings I like to
think, I've had a daughter in that time. Had a year off as a
practicing Muslim. And I'm all about the fucking peaceful shit
now. I got no beef with anyone I used to have. Eminem for the
racist tapes id backslap him for that shit. For a top five
favourite rapper of yours to drop that shit as a Black Person is
not nice. I'd smack Mos Def ...cos he irritates me. Just he
seems so pretentious and full of himself. It's not even his
rapping, just his stupid face and the way he tries to do the
ragga shit sometimes when he emcees. Argh man he just gets to
me. He also had a line like "I couldn't give a fuck if a fan
remembers me, I want to live life in the light of Gods Memory"
or something. What a fucking rude thing to say man. That's rude
as hell. I'd smack him with his own hand for that shit. I would
have said Common as well cos he came across like a big head on
some songs. All that "I wouldn't even call you boo cos you
are a
queen" shit, when you check his first LP and he was dissin women
hard. But anyway he made up for everything on "Be", The Corner.

How is giving coppers free reign to keep targeting Blacks
and Asians helping the problem of disproportionate stop and
searches? Made me sick...
If you could smack a politician who would it be?
Micheal Howard for trying to wipe the stop and search policy of
the pigs noting each stop, when black people are eight times
more likely to get stopped than other races. How is giving
coppers free reign to keep targeting Blacks and Asians helping
the problem of disproportionate stop and searches? Made me
sick...same with his BNP style Asylum Seeker hatred shit. You
knew what you was doing Howard, and it didn't work did it you
prick. Toney tone really put me off with the war shit, that's
why I never voted for his ACTUAL Joker from The Batman film
smiling foolish head.
Who would you most like to smack?
Tempa...on her fine ass, I tried emailing her to do a song but I
think I put her off by saying I love her n shit in the email
when I don't actually know her, have never met her or spoken to
her at all. So I tried speakin to Phobia via his email but he
just gave me her email the one I already have that she isn't
responding to. She hasn't responded yet, this was a while ago
now. So my last resort was the song titled "Tempa" on the
Mixtape. Actual stalking on record. COT DAYUM she's
hot...hellfire Blaze. Tempa do a song with a real G from
Compton, that's me man.
