Hip
Hop Kemp 2005
Now in its fourth year, the Hip Hop Kemp festival is Eastern Europe's
biggest underground festival and by far one of the best yearly hip hop festivals
in Europe, attracting more and more people every year. First and foremost Hip
Hop Kemp is about the atmosphere... an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else
this year.
Having spent the last 3 years perfecting it, 2005 looks set to be bigger and
better than ever with the festival taking place once more in the Czech
Republic, in a beautiful spot called Stříbrňák near the town of Hradec
Králové.
With the festival’s popularity rising year on year and a big amount of UK
residents making the trip in 2004, Hip Hop Kemp have teamed up with ukhh.com
and Scenario Records to bring you a dedicated web space for the festival
as well as a place to buy official tickets in the UK.
This year’s line up (which you can find below) is already packed with some
quality UK talent as well as artists from across Europe and the US. As such the
festival is a perfect destination for a summer holiday in the beautiful Czech
Republic, where you can lounge in the sun, listen to some dope music and live
acts and just plain enjoy yourself. On top of all that for UK residents the
value of the Pound means that this is one holiday that won’t break the bank. The
tickets alone are just £20 for 3 days and tent accommodation runs to around £5
for the whole duration of the festival. It’s cheap, dope and a one in a lifetime
experience guaranteed!
On this page you’ll find all the information you’ll require to make the trip:
location details, travelling information, ticket information, line up, tent and
parking prices and more. If you don’t see something you’re after or are lacking
more specific information we haven’t put on here, you can contact
Laurent@ukhh.com who will try and answer
your query. However please first take the time to read through this page and
note that the information will be updated regularly and as such if something
you’re looking for isn’t here yet, it may well be in a day or two. Also please
note that while we’ll try and answer any query you got asap, we might not always
be able to.
Enjoy!

Tickets – Money Exchange
Tickets:
Ticket sales for Hip Hop Kemp 2005 will be handled by Scenario Records in the
UK. This means that Scenario will be selling tickets via their shop in Central
London and their site (meaning anyone in the UK can order a ticket). Handling of
e-tickets and where to order them from will be confirmed asap.
Ticket pre-sale works as follows:
From June to July – Tickets are £20 + postage fee
From August – Tickets price will be confirmed soon
All tickets bought via Scenario are for the whole 3
days of the festival. Tickets for specific days can be bought upon arrival at
the site.
Normal ticket holders will be able to enter the site fairly easily via a
dedicated queue.
Please note that while it is true that you can buy tickets directly from the
official Czech Hip Hop Kemp site, it is recommended if you are coming from the
UK to buy your tickets via Scenario Records, as the aim is not for us to make
more money (the price difference between UK tickets and online Czech ones is
minimal) but to try and encourage as many British people to come to the festival
via us and promote the festival in the UK. As well as offer a place for people
who aren’t comfortable with buying tickets via a foreign service provider.
To buy your tickets head over to:
http://www.scenariorecords.com/index.cfm/go/catalogue/mode/view/productID/4084/
Or call 0207 439 0055
Or visit at: 12 Ingestre Place, London W1F 0JF
Email: info@scenariorecords.com
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 11am to 7pm.
There are a limited numbers of actual tickets for the period April-May. From the
1st of June onwards there will be a steady supply of tickets.
Money exchange:
To find out how much your Pound is worth to the Czech Krona (CZK) use
http://www.xe.com
At the time we published this the rough exchange rate was £1 equals CZK44.

Location – Directions – Dates – Opening Times
The festival will take place on the 3rd weekend of August 2005, from Friday the
19th until Monday the 21st. The festival will start on Friday evening and the
site itself will be open from Friday around lunchtime until Monday evening.
Camping will be possible from the Thursday till the Monday.
The festival's location has had to be moved from last year's spot to a disused
Airport on the other side of town. So you still need to make your way to Hradec
Králové from either Prague or Brno depending on where you're flying. See below
for a new map of where the site is located (literally on the other side of town)
and also click to see pictures of the new site.
The new site still includes 2 lakes, a river, parcs, forest, a runway, some
hangars, which will be used instead of tents and one hangar decked out as a
skatepark. All attractions, outlets etc... are still on.
We're also happy to say a few UK labels and shops should be setting up a stall
at kemp.
You will find below maps of the festival site and town as well as information on
how to get there from both Prague and Brno, which are the two major airports you
can fly into from the UK.
Getting from the airport to Prague centre:
Bus / Metro (Underground)
Leave the airport out of exits E or F (to your right as you come out of
arrivals).
For buses: cross the road, look for buses 119 to Dejvicka or 100 to
Zlicin. (which one depends on where in Prague your going, but both get you
into the centre). On either bus, stay on till the last stop, get off and get
onto the Metro/Underground.
If you got on the 119 to Dejvicka you get on the Green Line. Which takes
you to Starometska (Old Town square)
If you got on the 100 to Zlicin you get on the Yellow Line. Which takes
you to Mustek (Wenceslaus Square)
Either way, the Metro only goes one-way, as you’re getting on at the last stop
at the outskirts of the city.
Bus tickets (Valid for Bus/Tram/Metro) are available from the tourist
information stand by arrivals. The ticket is 12 Kc, which is about 25p and is
valid for one hour once it’s been stamped and the 8 Kc one is only for 15minutes
or 4 stops.
Make sure you stamp the ticket when you get on the bus/tram otherwise they can
fine you 400Kc, which is about £10.
Taxi
Never take a taxi from the side of the road, cos they’re going to see you coming
and over charge. Call a reputable taxi firm (City taxi is a hot ticket as the
operators speak English - +420 257257257). Usually they’ll pick you up from exit
F.
A taxi should cost around 400 Kc. Don’t bother with the airport mini bus because
they’re going to charge you about 400Kc per person.
Directions from Prague/Brno and connections by bus or train:

Camping – Accommodation - Parking – Flights
As mentioned you can camp on site for the three days. A parking lot will also be
provided if you’re driving down. It’s possible to start camping on the Thursday
until the Monday. You can leave and re-enter the site whenever you want during
the duration of the festival. If you are coming by car please see the Parking
information below as there are additional fees for taking your car in and out of
the parking lot.
Both the camping site and parking lot will be fenced and covered by security
guards, however it is recommended not to leave items of value in your tents. You
can use your car or the safety boxes which are provided on site (check the On
Site Facilities section).
Camping:
Please note: Camping details will be updated in the coming days with exact fees
and details.
The camping site is very close to the festival. Fees are per day, per person for
tent and car (if you only have a tent, the fees are smaller). Exact fees will be
confirmed shortly, but to give you an idea of how cheap this is, a rough amount
for 3 days’ camping for one person with a car is around £5 based on last year’s
prices.
Accommodation:
You can also seek accommodation in the town itself. Please use the following
link:
http://www.hradeckralove.cz/gbr/index.php?PHPSESSID=c31e6a1cfa44606ae7ecb26dfe925c4d
or

Alternatively you can download a pdf of accommodations in the town from here:
hhk-accommodation.pdf
Please note the pdf supplied is from last year and so phones/names may have
changed. For accurate info please check the site.
Parking:
The Parking costs are as follow:
Car – 100 CZK
Van (weight up to 3.5t) – 400 CZK
Bigger Van or Bus – 1000 CZK
Once you’ve paid the parking cost you’ll get a sticker to put on your car. If
you wish to leave the parking lot and come back again, you’ll have to pay 50% of
the fee every time. So if you leave 5 times with in a car and come back you’ll
pay 5 x 50CZK.
Flights:
From the UK there are two main airports you can fly into: Prague (the capital)
and Brno. Please use the following links to look for flights and prices. Also
note that you’ll need a valid passport to travel and that it’s advised to book
