Hailing from the sunny (sic) city of Coventry, Defcon3 hit us off with their new demo. Preferring to use live instrumentation rather than sampled beats, the tracks have a jazzy feel, perhaps only really let down by the emcees' inability to speak with a british accent. The DJ has to get a special mention, if only for the fact he's called Tokyo Spermwhale, possibly one of the most bizarre names in uk hiphop. To get back to the emcees, the lyrics are not outstanding, but the energy is there, and whilst this demo may not be everyones cup of rosie lee, a new one is imminent, and if these flaws are recognised, the new product could well be interesting. Lets face it. Not much else has come out of Coventry over the years has it? "its survival, dead on arrival Track Listing: © ukhh.com 1999 - 2000 |
