No Guns No Dinosaurs Fresh Out Of The Can EP

Hmmm, bit weird this one. With contributions from Miniature Heroes’ Arro (Leeds), DJ Samo (Cornwall), Troglodyte (Brighton) and Cana (Scarborough), you’d expect the clash of styles to produce something a little different.

‘Clowns Love Me’ features some nice sultry vocals, and an odd stream of consciousness rhyme that is interesting, but generally odd and off-key to these ears.

‘No It’s Right’ is some instrumental flavours while ‘Playtime Fusion’ features Cana and Troglodyte teaming again over another mellow beat with similar results.

‘UK Make Me Move’ is Cana shouting out various parts of the UK scene, and although it sounds OK, should really be left on the record sleeve as it could easily be misconstrued as a self-indulgent industry tea-bagging mission.

I don’t dislike this as such- it just feels like a work in progress rather than a finished product. And all the tracks are too similar in both vibe and tempo to make them stand out. If you were into that Marxman/Massive/Portishead type vibe back in the day though and want something to fill that void, this may well be worthy of investigation.
