Mudmowth Just to Get the Name Known EP

Mudmowth is a motormouth-ed heavyweight from South Wales. Over a surprisingly great 7 songs, he tears the mic apart. From bass-heavy battle-raps with the “Dirtiest Thing,” to mystical “Calm Before the Storm,” Mudmowth sounds brilliant over Harry Macadam beats and some nice lyrics and productions showcase some real Welsh talent.

Goldie Lookin Yer-what? Highlight song here is the sombre political acoustic-guitar led “Turkish Love Rat”. Evoking a really intense filmic scene, Mudmowth walking all over the beat. Spanish horns permeate “South Wales Gramma” whilst grimy drums kill “The Life of Mr Mowth“. Don’t forget the luao-Hawaii surf guitar and the double-time rhythm. Nice stuff. With metaphors for days and rhymes to play with, don’t let this short review confuse you. The guys even have the gall to sample a dead Beatle. “Working Class Hero” samples Lennon’s own song whilst Mudmowth shows a real maturity dealing with the class system and the pitfalls of a working man’s life. Whilst it could have descended into cliché, he handles it well.

This EP is bad and I mean bad-ass. You need to pick it up. Excellent production and tight rapping. I look forward to hearing more from the Turkish love rat soon.

You knows it.
