Danny Breaks The Outer Dimension EP

a perfect ending to Danny’s journey through breaks and sounds that grows on you after a few repeated listens
Finally, after nearly 2 years, Danny Breaks has finished his journey through the multiple dimensions of music and has landed back on earth in time to drop the fourth and last EP in the aptly titled Dimension series. With previous volumes including some now classic heavy tracks such as ‘Jellyfish’ and ‘Windscreen Wipers’, the fourth volume was eagerly anticipated by heads and it doesn’t disappoint. While this new EP may not contain such straight forward bangers as the aforementioned on first listen, it is a perfect ending to Danny’s journey through breaks and sounds that grows on you after a few repeated listens. Taking a much more analogue route than the previous outings, which at times perfectly blended elements of electronic music with some heavy hitting hip hop head nodding beats, ‘The Outer Dimension’ still packs a punch with the main track, ‘The Octopus’, following proudly in the footsteps of ‘Jellyfish’.
The breaks are still as crunchy and tasty as ever, as Danny gets stupid loose on his drum sets and combines the drums with synths and analogue sounds galore. The aptly titled ‘Moodulator’ is another example, a tip of the hat to the classic moog sounds brought up to date in trademark Danny Breaks style. ‘The Octopus’ is also full of weird and wonderful sounds, and ‘Attack of the Beatazoids’ carries that on too, each time with Danny changing his approach to the instruments and sounds but keeping a funky, head nodding vibe that will appeal to heads far and wide. This last offering also includes yet another cutting track, this time ‘Def by a 1000 cuts’, where Danny lets loose over another one of his beats, showing that on top of having some serious production skills he’s also able to catch wreck behind the turns. After all he’s been at it longer than most, and has such a deep history when it comes to production that it’d be a real surprise if he came through with something that didn’t just bang. I for one will be sad to see Danny quit his dimension hopping adventures, that is until he comes back with a new fresh release.
