Swampfoot The Education EP
Hailing from the mighty hip hop force that is, err, Lincoln, Swampfoot deliver a three track EP titled ‘The Education’. The opening track ‘Seen to be Believed’ is a funky number that is possibly the weaker of the three but still holds up with lyrics that are more intelligent than your average.
The title track ‘Education’ takes a verse from the Pink Floyd classic ‘Another Brick in the Wall’. This is a crowd favourite at their live gigs due to the familiar sing a long chorus. Should the crew ever make it big, there could be copyright issues to deal with. However, as an underground hip hop track this is definitely an effort that would rival most of what the rest of the country has to offer.
Complete with keys, scratches and acoustic style riffs the final track ‘Right of Way’ increases the quality of the package further. A pleasant head-nodding beat with the continued consistency of quality lyrics that encourage their ‘soldiers to hold on for brighter days’ helps to round up a short, but worthy EP. On this evidence, ‘brighter days’ surely lay ahead not only for their soldiers, but for Swampfoot as well.
