Krispy Millennium Funk
EP
So Krispy are back with this new mini-LP as they call it, but I’ve always viewed these things as EP’s. I’ve always felt what Krispy are doing, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this latest offering from the duo. Well what can I say? It’s another Krispy classic, with 6 cuts of what can only be described as funk.
Each track holds its own, and each get you in the dancing mood. ‘No Question’ has a well nice little piano sample with long beats in the background. The lyrics are the same feel, funky flows is the diet here. ‘Ill Format’ features DJ Woody on cut, and has some of the most vibey beats I’ve heard in a while. This is yet another ‘get up a dance you crazy fool’ track, so if it comes on in a club you better get up and dance. Impressed by Woody’s cuts as well, not over scratched, just right. ‘Dress Back’ is something that I feared the day of, but now its here I’m happy. British people using Southern fast spitting flows was something that I thought would sound ultra-shit, but it’s done well. Ty features on this track doing the same fast spitting lyrics, but all MC’s pull it off, Production is fitting for the vibe of the track., yep all in all dope. ‘Y’all Feel It?’ is I fantastic track, and I can’t help but nod my head to it. Its not a particular bit of the track I like, it’s the way the lyrics gel with the beats, god it sounds funky.
I really can’t think of a better word than Funky to explain this EP. Ever cut has a nice party feel to it, and makes you remember why you love hiphop. Get this record please, and get the whole world dancing.
