Tommy Evans makes a return on the consistently excellent YNR label....five records in and yet to hint of any sub-quality at all. Only three tracks this time around though, which is a shame compared to the 6 tracks on the Time Capsule EP. 'Ophelia' sees a boy-meets-girl tale over a Jehst/Evil Ed beat collaboration (how does that work then?)...simple headnodding beat and loops and Tom's solid flow, chorus is kinda weak to these ears though. The remaining two tracks '4 Elements' and 'Wasteland' are produced by former-Lowlifes Breaking The Illusion. The title track features Taskforce and Usman rhyming about the 4 Elements with each MC taking an element...y'know Earth (Tommy), Air (Farma), Fire (Usman) and Water (Chester)...as you'd imagine it doesn't disappoint, quality rhymes from all corners and a nice concept. 'The Wasteland' is another tale of the shitty state of the world but it's a nice deviation from straight up hiphop, it's got a much more 'house' production feel to it, nice trumpet stabs, female chorus, but still with Tommy's nice flow...nothing revolutionary lyrics wise, the concept's been done by many before and will continue to be done, but the feel of the track makes it stand apart....real nice for the more open heads. Overall, another quality EP. All those owning the Time Capsule EP will already feel used to Tommy's rhyme style and accent and will want to pick this EP up. Others should just pick it up anyway and stick with it. Even though it's half as long it's probably more varied than his first EP, definately production wise. The production and recording quality is up a notch and the front sticker is a nice caricature taking its lead from the EP title. What more do you want?
