Jambon Serving Scouse EP
Jambon may be a familiar name to some of you. Having organised nights at The Cavern Club and Lemon Lounge in his home town of Liverpool there may even be some people reading this who owe Jambon for giving them their first exposure. If that is the case, I suggest you get in touch with him and buy a copy of this EP now! And if you don’t owe Jambon anything - you owe it to yourself to get a copy of this.
We begin with the title track, driven by a beat that Iron Bridge would be more than comfortable on. ‘Serving Scouse’ is a good opening track and prepares you well for the rest of the EP; it’s good, fun and by no means overly serious.
‘Jambon’s Workout’ is perhaps the theme tune to an upcoming fitness video, although a closer inspection of the lyrics suggests that might be a little doubtful. Rather than sit-ups or jogging it appears Jambon is more content with “a cosy night with me chocolate watching T.V”. Although it does seem he is interested in certain exercises; “No will for the treadmill fitness junkies, jack the workout I’ll bash me monkey”. A motto I’m sure a lot of us will agree with.
‘Plastic Rappers’ is a lyrical onslaught on all those fake ass motherfuckers that we all know and hate! “Take a plastic rapper and put it in the bin”. Say word. Keep Britain’s streets tidy. The track is full of battle rhymes aimed at inferior MCs with enough metaphors to keep any Phi Life Cypher fan happy. However sincere Jambon may be about wack MCs this track is not excessively aggressive, which is definitely a good thing.
‘Serving Scouse’ is a solid EP from Jambon. There are definite similarities with Iron Bridge but Jambon is no clone. There are no disappointing tracks and the running order is smooth enough to make this a whole package rather than a bunch-of-songs-put-together deal. We could be seeing big things from Jambon in the next year or so; he has recording dates booked with C-Mone which I’m sure will highlight his talents to a wider audience. I’m told we should be hearing those collaborations springtime 2007. So keep your eyes and ears open! You don’t want to miss that.

I suggest you get in touch with him and buy a copy of this EP now… you owe it to yourself
