Uninvited Guests City Of Odd EP As far as I can understand, the Uninvited Guests are part of a wider crew named The Molesta Gritty Committee, hailing from Leicester. Either way, this duo consisting of producer Ralfabetix and emcee Gobshite bring something a little different to try and neutralise all the humdrum Hiphop, Rap shit. The ‘City of Odd’ EP is a tasty little 6 tracker, ranging from concepts such as the paranoid entitled ‘Police State’ to the smooth groves of Graf themed ‘Y.S.T.’ What’s clear is that Gobshite is capable of chatting about many subjects and can easily fill a track with lyrical content. Likewise, producer Ralfabetix manfully controls the boards throughout the EP. My only criticism of this duo would be the impact of their tracks though. Whilst both are clearly good at what they do, I’d need to hear tracks with a bit more energy and punch to really assess if this collective has a long-term future on the scene. Because whilst this is undoubtedly a solid EP, the last impact of the tracks is relatively short lived, meaning this could end up collecting dust in the crates. - 2Hip © ukhh.com 1999 - 2006
