This six track EP is another banger from the land of Robin Hood. The release date is as yet unconfirmed but is bound to have you breaking open your piggy bank for that Notts sound, ya get me!? The first track “Archery” starts of with the spoken word of Big Trev, he comes across as a Roots Manuva meets Wolftown, yet from Nottingham, does that make any sense? The track is pure lyrical skills from Scor-Zay-Zee “You couldn’t even spar with my gloves” with the cutting from DJ Fever. DJ Fever has skills with out a shadow of a doubt, you will have to listen to many a tune to find better cuts than the slicing he displays, and I am real fussy when it comes to cuts. “Luv iz” the next track on the EP, featuring Scor-Zay-Zee, Lee Ramsay and Mizz Red It hits you softly with some beautiful breaks, the way that Out Da Ville effortlessly seduce a piano break is something a lot of budding producers could learn from. This UK Hip Hop tune would not be out of place in the Charts top ten while the actual content and over all vibe still stinks of realism. “100 Miles per hour” is the tune for me. Tempa, Scor-Zay-Zee, Lee Ramsay and Karizma all stand their ground in a short pattern burst that has a Daytona speed way theme running through your head before a head on collision with DJ Fever, again with a solid cutting performance. “Oh My Days” is next, an Out Da Ville posse cut, the cast consisting of Lee Ramsay, Mizz Red, Scor-Zay0Zee, Sophie Johnson Hill, Instinct, C-Mone, Karizma and Fedel Castro. This Wu Tang sounding break keeps the tune moving along nicely and heads nodding as you get a run through part of the Out Da Ville roster. Next up is a rather Reggae type flavour on “ Face UR Demons” Lee Ramsey is on the mic with some heavy bass as the back up. The pucked guitar sample sits nicely and compliments the lyrics and the bass. And just when you thought it was over… the Out Da Ville crew spoil you for your monies worth by adding another banger “Queens Palace” This time featuring © ukhh.com 1999 - 2001 |
