Out Da Ville And Da Ville Goes On EP

Raa, this is straight up British time. First off on this 6 track EP is 'Follow the crowd'. Which gets straight into it with Lee Ramsay. The chorus asks 'Why should I be the same as the rest of them, Why should I be ashamed, Why should I follow the crowd When I can be a leader' and tells people to be themselves and not be taken in by popular styles. The second track 'Next Level' is a hardcore showcase for Simone (or Tempa, I need to know) who reminds me of an old skool Roxanne Shante in the fact that she doesn't hold back and spits with tremendous venom through out the whole track.

Finishing up the first side is 'Bag of lab'. This track has a whole bag a lafs and skills. Scorzayzee describes many of the things that have been standing in the crews way. If I describe the production you'd think it'd be wack - verging on jiggy. It is just simple kicks, a repetitive high-pitched sample and an intermittent skull instead of a snare. But pull the whole track together with the tru Notts accent and the lyrical skills of Lee Ramsay and it really works and will make you rewind and come again. The final shout out is to last year. Hehe.

Side two kicks off 'Raw'. By this time I was like wow - I love this record.
'Daddy Daddy' is a more serious track about a father from around the way who had epilepsy caused by a fight and later committed suicide. This is deep shit and should be respected, it was so moving and heart-felt that it even gave me goose pimples. The final track 'O.U.T.' a posse cut including Simone and Tempa and each rapper spits their own stunning verse.

All the production is by Nick 'Dimes' Sherrett and Big Trev. This EP has everything, Full on UK accents (who said Lee Ramsay rapped Yank?), seriously though, all the MCs have matured and have the confidence to represent for themselves. The very noticeable change in accent is welcome and for me moves this crew to the next level. All the tracks have dope production and beats and a variety of styles. The only thing missing perhaps is some cutting. Big up St. Anns.
