Rodney P and Skitz Legends Wine Bar High Wycombe

Ok, so when I was first told about this jam around a month ago, my first reaction was “fuck off….Legends…dem man that a running this can’t have seen the place” Ya see, I’ve played a few nights there myself, and trust me when I say it ain’t the nicest venue I’ve played in. Don’t get me wrong though, as from the first time I walked into the place I instantly thought this place is “Hip Hop” (for all those that ever witnessed Westwood play @ Dingwalls back in the day, you’ll know what I mean), but all that aside I also knew that I’d be going, as apart from the occasional IDrealist jam, quality Hip Hop jams in Wycombe are scarce.

Anyway I arrive, hand over my ticket and take up root with the rest of the IDrealists, and listen to some deejay I’ve never heard of (and can’t remember his name now either) playing some joints to warm the ever building crowd up whilst we’re all awaiting the arrival of the “Titan Sounds” representatives. It’s during this wait, that I turn to Celltrait and say, “Nah man, they ain’t gunna show, and even if they do, they ain’t gunna stay when they hear how crap the system is” to which he replies “Watch” and points in the direction of the door, to where a certain “Daddy Skitz” is accompanied by a certain “Riddim Killa”.

Ironically, it’s also @ that point that the system is cranked up a little louder to an extent that makes me think, “They’ve sorted the wackness out then” and realize that so far, all my negative thoughts and feelings have been proved wrong.

It’s about an hour after they reach, that they finally take to the stage, much to the delight of the crowd, which consists of some of Wycombes finest (McM, Marga Marl J, Leroy Brown, The IDrealists,) but which is mainly student based.

Rodney P introduces himself and his deejay (Skitz) and announces that “It’s time to party”…to which “Skitz” response is to launch into an awesome assault on our ears, with some exclusives, remixes, anthems, infact, everything you (well me anyway) want to hear when you go to a “Hip Hop” jam, and as if that wasn’t enough “Rodney P” decided to drop the verse/tune in here and there.

Over all, the night was a wicked night, and one I look forward to witnessing the likes off again…soon, I mean the music was spot on, Skitz played some above average tunes *Note to Deejays…play for the crowd, not yourselves and your mates…trus me, it works* and Rodney P, despite a little dispute that I wont go into, gave a solid performance as both “Host” and “Emcee”.

That’s it really, that’s all I gotta say on the night. It was dope and I only hope that I witness more events of the like in Wycombe.

My choice moments for the night:

Hearing Skitz play “International Karate” by the Demon Boyz.
Slamming like a crazy fool to “Graff the Bus Up” with the rest of the IDrealists (Cell, you owe me a “Special Brew” bruv)
Witnessing Rodney P and McM rock the mic, with some spontaneous shit, was dope as hell.
Watching Rodney P stamp on mans head for being a fool. (He was warned…Trus me Mr P gave him nuff time and warning to behave)
