Phi Life Cipher Jump @ the Liquid Rooms

The Edinburgh crowd are a hard bunch to please, so starting another Hip Hop night is either one of two things - 'A hit or a miss' Ya get me?
To add to the "Will people show up to my night?" kinda stress the promoter has to go through isn't put to rest when the night you're holding is a on a Tuesday (I myself tend to stay in on a school night) but when you've booked the mighty Phi Life Cipher surely you can be guaranteed a good turn out?

I got to the liquid Rooms (which i must point out, has one of the finest sound systems in Edinburgh) at around 12 O Clock, only to have just missed a 25 minute freestyle, which i was told was "Proper heavy". Not to worry, i still had the main show to come.
At this time, Phi Life Cipher had headed back to their hotel room for a 'smoke' leaving DJs Babes (Squalor Show) and Dava (Headspin) entertaining the masses with a blend of wiked party tunes, mixing and cutting.

After about an hour of getting jiggy on the dance floor, Phi Life Cipher stepped to the stage. By this time the place was rammed, probably the busiest i have seen the Liquid Rooms? The atmosphere was amazing, it was almost like watching a bunch of kids on Xmas morning before the got stuck in to their presents.

After some crowd chanting, the show started. Verse after verse, hit after hit, the Luton lads spat out line after line of nothing short of pure dopeness. Bigging up the Edinburgh crowd, and in particular, the Scotland Yard Emcees, who they mentioned several times (mainly in the many freestyles they performed).
This was a great show, no doubt about it. The crowd were loving it. It wasn't until DJ Nappa dropped 'Over' that the gig really took off. From there on, the night had reached it's peak, a new height to which both emcees seemed more into it.
Freestyles were tighter, and me - well i had a smile from ear to ear.

After about an hour/hour and a half? the gig was nearing end. Having none of it, the crowd were screaming "ONE MORE TUNE, ONE MORE TUNE!!" i'm sure we got about another 3 or 4 tunes after that? The drink had kicked in and i was seeing 6 emcees so i can't really remember to be honest.

In a hurry, i had to leave, so i never really go the chance to speak to Phi Life Cipher. Just a quick hand shake and big up for one of the best gigs i had seen in a long time. My night had ended, walking home with a smile like a Chesire cat, i was more than happy to cope with just 3 hours of sleep before i got up for work, it was well worth it.
