Kashmere, Doc Brown, Lowkey and Reveal Ocean Rooms, Brighton

First off, I wanna big up the PP family for pushing UK hip hop in a positive direction. As you say yourselves, ‘there are a lot of whack ‘hip hop’ artists both in the US and even here in the UK’ who need to be put in there place. And who better to do it?!

Spells and Stylah The crowd

When I heard the news that Doc Brown and Lowkey were hittin up Brighton town I knew it was a night not to be missed. Having seen Doc Brown supporting The Beatnuts a few months back I knew to expect a good night.

However unfortunately we found out halfway through the night that Doc Brown couldn’t make it and that sent confusion through the crowd as to whether Lowkey was gonna show. After the host assured us he was on his way, Kashmere a.k.a. Iguana Man alongside Combined Mentalz stepped up and performed a short but lively set, that warmed up the crowd, ready for Lowkey, Spellz, Stylah, DJ Snips plus a special guest who appeared mid set- Reveal.

Lowkey Reveal

Despite having some fairly major sound difficulties they put on a heavy show improvising with tight accappellas and displaying their mad skills on the mic. There is no stage at the Ocean Rooms so it was real intimate, with the crowd gathered round the MCs. It was refreshing to see and hear these artists who genuinely wanted to be there and were having as good a time as the crowd.

There is no doubt that these guys are on their way up and to right! If you haven’t got Lowkeys albums ‘Key to the Game 1 & 2’, what are you waiting for? Check out Sorecs.com. Oh ye and look out for Reveals album dropping May 05.

The ClikPeace!
