Producers Conference Guildford live
Organised by UK music tech distributor Sound Technology on behalf of Propellerhead music software company the entrance fee of £15 for a half-day was a bit steep. But we got a free t-shirt (advertising their software) and some grub so it wasn't all bad.
It was billed as creative clinics and masterclasses for computer musicians on advanced production techniques, song writing, mixing methods and more.
It was for Reason software users but the tips could be applied by relatively proficient users of other music making software.
It featured the likes of Blu Mar Ten, DJ Alex Blanco and Gary Bromham.
A Guy Called Gerald showed us the use of Reason for live DJ / performance purposes with little explanation which was disappointing to me as I would have liked more advice on composition / production from him. One lecturer rambled on about his career which was of little use to the attendees. Some lecturers did not show close ups of their screenshots which made some of their lessons of limited value.
More formalised networking time may have been useful to the studio-dwelling lifeforms present.
Possibly the point of the event was to launch their new Record software to their email list in person which happened at the end...
