 Various Word Lab LP

Make no mistake - this is not a dopey billy bullshit imitation - Word Lab is nothing short of the absolute...and deserves all the attention which accompanies being an undeniably properly great release. First off let me quickly say BUY IT ON SIGHT! Why? - rasss heres why... A) This is totally rammed full of the choicest prime cuts of the tastiest acts the UK can serve up. B) 14 tracks across double wax for 8.99 - unbelievable value from the new Word Play imprint. C) WHAT? - A n B not enough - if not you best go check ya head off a passing plank or two.

An awesome array of crews and guest emcees bring together some lovely aural pleasure...it is truly difficult to find a weak track in this bunch. And I would love to slag it off cos nobody likes to say that there is an album you can't find something a little bit wrong with - but I canna with this!

All styles of UK hiphop production are represented well - jazziness with Nextmen feat. Ty, posse bizness with the Twilight of the Gods (Rodney P, Skinnyman, Wildflower and Riddla), reggae twinged styles with Rodney P's Dedication, jump-up tempo with Mark B & Blade (Ya Don't See The Signs), and on and on and on. It also provides a good cross section of regional sounds with MSI & Asylum/Numskullz/Aspects, etc - i.e. it is not strictly predominantly London-based which has been a criticism of some compilations in the past.

My personal favourite is Blak Twang's - Masterchief Sandwich but I know for a fact that this could totally change on my next trawl through. This is an outstanding release of solid to sublime tracks - this gained the attention and props from all types of hiphop and non-hiphop media for a definite reason. In conjunction with Raw Materials - all new heads out there wherever you reside can blatantly educate non-uk hiphop peeple with these pretty much perfect psalms to proper originality and 100% homestyle creativity!!! BLINDIN' - class lesson is in session....
