Ty Awkward LP This has to be one of the most anticipated albums to come out of the UK for a long while. Ty is well known for his work with Shortee, but this time its his turn to shine on his own. Very little featured artists on this album which is nice to see with all the albums out that have everyone on them, and frankly Ty deserves his own album. There are too many phat tracks on this album, in fact all are above listenable, they are fucking dope basically. ‘Mind Made Up’ produced by the Unsung Heroes is blinding, Ty is one of the smoothest rappers my ears have clapped sound on. He flows effortlessly over the beats which are world class standard. ‘Walk With Your Ego’ is produced by Wylee Kyat (Ahh sweet memories of Thundercats come flooding back!), and I’m impressed by them greatly, very interesting production that allows for Ty to put down more lyrics that are butter smooth. The Hizzy as Snoop calls it, is a lovely little hook that holds this track together to be one of the more outstanding than the other tracks, track. ‘The Tale’ is a nice funny story track about Ty’s experience with a young lady, oh er. Not one of the best tracks, but I picked it out cos of the humour value to demonstrate the variety on offer on this album. Favourite track goes without a doubt to ‘Jealousy’. Again its so different from all the other tracks on this album, its more hard hitting and I guess less smooth. Its real clever the way Ty chats about Three different experiences of Jealousy, and all done with great imagery. This track is again produced by Unsung Heroes who once again have laid down a supreme standard of beats. Shit I’ve still got so many other tracks I like, for example ‘Hercules’ which is a big fuck you to a bully who used to pick on Ty in primary. ‘Break The Lock’ is another Unsung Heroes track, which is… Go on pick a card any card, yep dope! Ty’s lyrics are super smooth on this track which is a right proper head nodder. I can’t fault this album at any level, I’m loving the smooth style but original lyrics, the production is varied and down right banging.
