Supar Novar From the Beginning LP

“From the Beginning” came as a bit of a bolt from the blue for me, not because I didn’t realise it was coming, but because I frankly didn’t think it’d be much cop. Being proven wrong can sometimes be a blessing though and this is certainly one of those instances!

All I can say after listening to this album is that Kemet or indeed Novar himself got the choice of singles off this album totally wrong! There are so many ill tracks on here that it really does beggar belief man! I mean the racy, banging club track “What Do You Wanna Hear” is what I wanna hear as a single!!

Still, it’s not all about the club bangers and “Full Circle”, which has yet more of that untouchable Joe Buhdah production is just one example of a track which sends shivers down your Hiphop loving spinal column. The tempo changing piano and strings are something of beauty and complements SN’s rugged delivery something lovely. It’s by no means a standalone track either as there are many others which rouse a similar reaction.

“From the Beginning” would not quite make my top album picks for 2006, but it’s a worthy purchase for sure. A pleasant surprise much like Kinder.
