 Rupert Just Woke Up LP

The artist once known as Rup's first album failed to set the galaxy on fire but he's back with a new album and definitely seems to be moving onwards and upwards. In a relatively quiet year for excitement in UK ish this album is a highlight for me.

The album has a strong contemplative and emotional feel in songs such as 'Feel You', 'Night Night' and 'Geography'. He seems to be maturing into a real songwriter of depth who stays away from cliches.

This album also has rowdier moments such as 'South of the River' featuring the likes of Kope, Compound, King Kaiow, Oliver Sudden and Manage. The beats by the likes of Steve Clear, Bonobo, Evil Sun etc are all solid and show them to be producers (not just beatmakers) worth keeping your eye on .
