The Nextmen Amongst The Madness LP

The production outfit of The Nextmen have been more than busy recently, this is their LP with lyrics rather than the purely production based album of ‘Next Level Battle Breaks’. So what do you get when you cross The Nextmens innovative production with class rhymer’s? Well a shit hot release that’s what, with something to satisfy absolutely everyone. 16 tracks of the purest, often experimental beats, straight up hiphop is the diet here.

It starts with the title track which kicks of the album more than nicely, more funk than shaft with lyrics laced on the track by Soulson. This beginning makes you lust after what you feel is in store and then your suddenly hit by one of the best tracks on the album. ‘Break The Mould’ features Grap Luva (Pete Rocks brother or so I’m told) putting down some superb lyrics with what seems like minimal effort. However the production on this track outshines the rapping like a hot British day (yeah like we get nice weather), the beats are crisp like walkers and the choruses scratching is more than enough to get you looking for the repeat button. On this whistle stop tour of this album we have on your left track 8, ‘We Got’ featuring TY and Red Cloud, these emcees work well together, adding depth to the what seems to be a funk guitar with nice irregular beats. TY holds down well for the UK as he does on his own track ‘Turn It Up A Little’ which was one the Wordlab compilation. We all know TY can rhyme and its nice to hear him other beats behind him rather than Shortee all the time. ‘Buck Foolish’ featuring Ken Boogaloo is the best track on the LP, superb rhymes which are fast and smooth and then you have the production. Nextmen have outdone themselves on this one, seriously well put together, showing that the Nextmen piss on many wannabe producers. The last track I’ll mention is ‘Shine On’ featuring Soulson. The nicest fast lyrics you are likely to hear this month maybe even year, and matched with nice racy beats. The tempo of this track does demand some dancing once your mates have left the room (just don’t get caught).

All in all I’m very much a lyrics man, but the production on this album does outshine all the lyrical attempts of doing so. I would more than defiantly recommend this album to anyone, for I heard, I liked very much and I’m sure you will too.
