Lewis Parker Masquerades & Silhouettes LP

I rate Lewis Parker as the best British rapper I've heard since ... I dunno when. I said before that "the taster from his album just strengthens even more my belief that it'll be the album of the year when it finally drops". Well, its dropped now, and like Tribe said - Oh my God! A really high class album. I run short of superlatives to describe this album. The beats are immediately recognisable as Parker's - melancholic string & piano samples & heavy head-nodding beats - samples you know he's found after going through dusty boxes of 2nd hand records. Over these there're Lewis Parker's inimitable delivery & varied - always Star Wars influenced - lyrics. Nice guest spot from Supa T too, on one of the stand-out tracks, 'A Thousand Fragments'. Watch out for the different versions of this one on the album too - some vinyl copies got out before they were all withdrawn that had an uncleared sample on, and the track is completely different - flippin good too!
