Two wicked compilations put together by that man The Ruf. Great cross- sections of the UK scene, Volume 2 is an absolute corker, with 12 UK-vinyl-exclusive tracks (although one from Krispy was on their US 12" on Bomb Records), and excellent presentation with sleeve art from Mad Temper. The production is on point, and the quality of the tracks shows what a lot the UK underground has to offer. Nice interludes from the Jeep Beat Collective, 2 tracks each from the excellent Krispy and Numskullz (one of whose tracks was actually on their 'Chapter 2' tape), Unanimous back in action with two tracks over laid-back funky beats, Hearts of Darkness deliver a brace of tracks with nice flows and driving beats, and why don't we hear more from Tribal Lords? An excellent track from them, plus a nice taster of what's to come from the mighty Mindbomb in the not-too-distant future. Volume 1 followed the same concept, featuring The Numskullz, Unanimous, Suspekt feat. Mystik Journeymen, Mind Bomb, Jeep Beat, Tribal Lords, Metaphorce and The Godfather of Wierd. Two really excellent compilations that I'd recommend to anyone looking to catch up on the UK scene.
