Undercover 3
I never actually got my hands on a copy of issue 2 hence the lack of review on this site, but I got my sticky little paws on a copy of issue 3. Fairly lucky I did really, because with HHC gone until March sometime, good hiphop journalism is becoming a bit of a mission to find.
Let me first comment on the cover CD, slightly weaker than the one that came clinging to issue 1, but nevertheless it’s still phat. The tracks by Ricochet, Moorish Delta, Visionaries and Vadim feat. Demolition Man already make this rag worthy of the cover price.
Inside the magazine are 154 pages of information to browse through. In-depth interviews with the likes of Vadim, Braintax, Moorish Delta, Xzibit, Pharoahe Monch and Q-Bert. Add to this well written articles with areas like the Liverpool scene being covered and you’ve got some tasty features. Loads of news and reviews, which can at time be slightly out of date due to frequency that the magazine is published, still it’s good to read. Although the magazine is definitely trying to cover graffiti and tasty garms, I still feel the mag needs the text breaking up a little more with graphics.
Still, if your eyes can take the pounding from all the text, read your way through this magazine, it’s definitely one of the strongest on the shelves.
