 Loops magazine

Loops is a new music journal and is the result of a collaboration between Domino Records and publishers Faber and is “dedicated to intelligent and diverse writing about music”.

I found out about this publication in an article about the state of music journalism in the Guardian Review by member of the journal’s Editorial Advisory Board John Harris who did not state his interest in the Grauniad (sic) article. It is a publication unafraid to publish unflattering comment regarding itself printed in advance of it’s own launch by guardian.co.uk blogger Maggoty Lamb, in a savage overview of the “flyblown carcass” of the music press (which shows that for some good music writing one has to go online nowadays). The content covers many genres of music. It may appeal to readers of Mojo and The Wire magazines.

It’s a lot of money at £12.00 but is a welcome addition to book shop shelves (I’ve only seen it on sale in a bookshop thus far).
