I am feelin' this collection of original soul, break n' funk tunes quite a lot (esp. at 8.99 for three hours of continous niceness). Its a collection with some serious stand-out tracks that I for one being an ignorant twat hadn't heard before (nor even had knowledge of their existance in the form shown here to the sounds I know from their sampled/looped/cut hiphop guise). Anyhow....for this reason it is an outstanding tape for me but for more super knowledgable beat heads its probably too easy going and straight up - there are not many abstract tracks here cos its a strictly entry level tape (e.g. East Harlem Rhythm Kings playing out the piano loop behind Concrete SchoolYard by J5). The tape basically takes the tracks from various
compilations (e.g. Stirling Breaks LP, Insane B-Boy Breaks LP, etc) and
selected tracks from particular series (e.g. Omega Breaks, Heavyweight
Breaks). This means a tune which catches squarely you round the nads
can be easily (-ish) obtained - which is primarily the aim behind the
doublepack tape.....and a nice job it does doin' that n' all. I
personally love this tape.... its not complex - just tracks played back
to back without mixing. But when your dealing with the quality of the
material available theres no need for histrionics cos' in a cheesy way
- the music does all the babbling needed....aaaaaah i'm sold like an itching Ernie muppet :-)
