Imaginative platter from the irreverently off kilter Oregon emcee dropping agitated verse across ruggedly soulful sample-driven beats. This album has a surplus of creative juice but maintains intelligent songwriting principles to structure the wildly diverse cuts into an aurally appetising form. The album begins as a slightly self-centred vehicle but gains strength throughout to forge a progressively distinct sound. The production has a sense of deep musicality whilst the easy lyrical delivery moves across subject matter with warm fluidity. Personal highlights include the bouncy neck-cracking break underpinning ‘Final’, the subtle measured narrative within ‘About Time’, the thumping bass lick running through ‘The Fall Of Williamsburg’, and the flowing sultry smoothness of ‘Let Me Know’. Overall, a listenable album highlighting the self discipline necessary to mould assorted inventive strands of artistic thought into weighty slices of chunky hip hop. Assertive and accomplished hip-hop.
