Cesar Comanche ft Edgar Allen Floe Miss You 12"

The Justus League really does churn them out at the moment. I’m the biggest fan of 9th Wonder and co but I must admit I’m finding it hard to keep up just now. This is the latest getting underground airplay and as usual the Dream Merchant is on hand to provide an offering that drips with soul- all emotive strings, mellow piano chords and dynamic base line. However, the beat does plod and the snare sounds slightly out of time, which is something I have encountered before with him (Big Pooh- Heart of the City). It’s just difficult to see how you can be such a huge producer and miss stuff like that. Especially after providing albums full of immaculate beats ala “The Listening” and “The Minstrel Show”.

Lyrically, Cesar Comanche sounds like a really shit version of Big Pooh and the yeah, yeah, yeah singing on the hook is just pants. The verses just are predictable ‘pining after your ex’ fodder. I wouldn’t be so harsh if I didn’t feel like they were one of the indy camps with the most potential in the US right now but this isn’t going to resurrect the golden age, sorry lads. It’s just a shame ‘cause with a little bit of quality control this could have been a night time gem.
