Beat Assailant Imperial Pressure LP The new album from the live 9 piece hip hop band based in France. I was disappointed to find out the rapper was a Yank (all the songs are in English) but that’s life! The band can all play and the rapper can rap but no one song really stands out initially. The sound is very ‘trad’ hip hop funk (veering into ‘neo-soul’ on occaision) and fails to excite my silly old lugholes but I imagine the band would be worthwhile seeing live.
