DJ Goodka & DJ Moar Groovology LP
This is how I like my records. A brilliantly creative cover, sickly orange vinyl, and such funky beats that I'm now wearing a neck brace & the doctor's confiscated my copy... One with a PhD in crate digging & the other a Grand Wizard of beatmaking, they've come together on this album to give us all a lesson in Groovology.
There's something for all the hip-hop family on here - classic old school stylings, breaks for all the dancers out there, mellow vibes for all the lovers, and not forgetting a delicate dose of latin jazz, afro jazz and all sorts of other influeces just for the hell of it. It's original, but feels familiar - they've played with breaks & samples, mixing in some proper obscure ones from these master crate diggers' collections to make tunes in their own rights, tunes that I for one keep going back to again and again.
Goodka & Moar have produced an eclectic album, stunningly produced, which touches all bases without feeling disjointed or forced - it's a funking masterpiece people! Grab it while you can .. it's already on to it's second pressing (red vinyl this time!).
