27 Beats Entertainment Death Jam b/w Rampage 7"
This perhaps isn’t your typical 7” release, in that, one it’s not funk and two it’s not reggae, in fact this offering from 27 Beats Entertainment is far darker than any other 7 in my collection. Whilst I’m not sure this is the best format to release these types of tracks on, there is no doubting the quality pressed on both sides.
‘Death Jam’, has a bouncy rhythm which is overlain by a sample which sounds like it’s been lifted from ‘The Goonies’… one-eyed-willy stylin! The numerous emcees pass the mic smoothly between themselves, leaving you wanting more. The other track ‘Rampage’, with a bass line that sounds like a bubbling swamp, is a murky, rumbling tune. Rup The C**t’s lyrics jump up and down over the rowdy production, adding further energy.
This is a classy little 7”, from the custom artwork on all 250 pressings, to the more important musical offerings. 27 Beat Entertainment are a collective to keep on your consciousness.
