Gamma come as the new signings from Big Dada-land...with this intro 12 serving as a prelude for their new LP titled Permanament. Really this functions as a bit of a interest grinder to show how these already established UK artists/producers will function together (Gamma consist of Juice Aleem - E.B.U - Lord Reedemer - Mr Mitchell). The a-side titled "Black Atlantian" is a creeping track which bops along well - a bouncy bit of beatery with some added background guitar twangling fizz n' organ stabs. The nice filled production n' good interaction between the rhymers n' beat makes this move your head for sure. As for most things coming out on Big Dada it isnt your usual straight tight hiphop fare - its got an edge to it for definite. The lyrics come fast n' thick with good FX's placed around them to layer the sound - this makes the track feel well dense. So in effect the Mc's move extra well within the track - delivering punchiness across a multi-tainted soundscape. The b-side (Prang) is totally relaxed in comparison...the music feels really light but is still bass heavy - coming to make you a bit glassy eyed after you listen for half the tune - it moves n' shimmers with a singular undulating synth line and understated beat shuffle. This allows the lyricists to flame it as you hear every verbal muttered - which is nice cos its skilled indeed. I like this a load - wheres that LP.... nuff said from their own chorus really "Imperative all our dues must come thru, we've come to far to dress back now thru".
