SES Crew Can’t Find Me 12"

After spending a lazy afternoon thumbing through the crates I found a couple of releases that dropped in the latter half of last year and somehow manged to evade the UKHH.Com review net and I thought deserved a mention.

First up is this two tracker (plus instrumentals and one accapella), S.E.S hail out of Harlesden and are Bad Manner, Ments, G.I and SirReal. First up is ‘Can’t find me’ which is my favourite track, featuring an extremely catchy acoustic guitar lick and some tasty drums. Although the production appears quite simple and straight forward it sounds great with some subtle sub bass and real booming beats. Any emcees looking for some quality beats to rhyme over could do a lot worse than the included instrumental. On the vocal side all the emcees put in good work on a tale of evading the watching authorities. A rock solid cut.

Flipping the wax finds the emcees in true grimy mode on the appropriately named ‘Dutty’. Producer Sirreal drops another sparse but effective beat supported by synth stabs and buzzes but the verbals do little for me personally and I’m not feeling it as much as the A side. Overall though a very promising debut
