 Travis Blaque The Bachelors 12"

Travis has had a single out before, and that was dope. So when I heard he had a new single out I had to get me little mitts on this one. London MC Travis does not disappoint on his latest either, featuring Fabian, Future and Mac. The production is handled by DJ Ollie Teeba from Herbaliser, the beats are Jazzy and thick, with a funk style sample over the top with a snare in the background to hold the whole masterpiece together. No doubt in my mind now that UK producers can hold their own in VAST numbers, even though this production does sound a lot like a Nextmen piece, but in my eyes that’s no bad thing! The lyrics by Travis are true to his London lifestyle, never does this man give you the impression he’s from elsewhere. The lyrics are about the pleasures of being a bachelor (Flippant sex!) and how you eventually find the lady of your dreams… oh how lovely. Believe me though, the lyrics are kept smooth and all MC’s keep the side together.

On the B-Side you have a remix by RJD2 of Rawkus/Fondle’em/ABB. The funky style production is kept going on the remix, I don’t like it as much as the bass guitar in the background seems bore me a shade, but hey its still a nice remix, and as I’m never feeling the remix’s as much as the originals, its not bad.

The final track ‘Dead Weight’ is a fucking lovely track, with more bass than and rude boys car stereo, and a nice little harp loop laying down the foundations for Travis to have a whole track of his own to rap on. Don’t doubt that he can’t spit through a whole track, the lyrics never die and are spat viciously all the way through. Not a dull track on this single so get off your lazy arses and find it!

If you can’t find it however, I’ve got a spare, so the first to guess my hair and eye colour together gets it! Mail me with your guesses kiddies
