Yungun & Mr Thing Dancing Shoes 12"

'City Break' was for me one of the tunes of '03 so I eagerly await anything new from Yungun. This time around for a two track 12" on Janomi limited to just 400 copies (grab one quick) he's hooked up with Mr Thing who puts his first production appearances together (as far as I'm aware).... there's a big difference being able to mix a couple of records together and scratch and producing your own material, but Mr Thing show's he's taken more than enough tips from the acts he's scratched on over the past x years with a couple of solid bouncy tracks. 'Dancing Shoes', as its name suggests, is aimed at the more discernable hiphop dancefloors near you, quality headnodding beats with a nice repetitive organ stab and Yungun's lyrics describing his dancing week involving salsa, tango, raves and more. The flipside 'Reverse Psychology' has an electronic stab over more electro drum sounds with Yungun twisting the lyrics around making it all a bit backward - 'my worlds topsy turvy thats what i said, for example i start my day by getting back into bed'...most of its basically a standard bragadoccio battle rhyme of why Yungun would win in a battle, probably true on this show because he created interesting and varied rhymes & imagery around the whole reverse psychology theme...

Overall, a very nice two tracker, a shame they couldn't put more onto it and make it a proper EP like the original EPs on the label but these two tracks will tide most people over while waiting for the next Yungun release... Another Janomi essential.
