Blak Twang U Know 12" Tony Rotten is back, on his new label Bad Magic … and what an entry, “U Know!” bellows out like Wha Blow! If you know the name the name you know the brand… ain’t that the truth. This one has taken up residence on my turntable and has now grown roots like your mother-in-law coming to visit. Tony’s voice attacks your ear while still grabbing every bit of attention you have left. The track is basically about what he has done and is doing and how you can’t ignore him, with a track like this, I don’t think you could. The beats fit well and the voice … well its like Roots Manuva or Guru, you would know that voice anywhere! Also on this 12” is “Surround Sound”, this subtlety takes a Common sample to set the scene, “You feel it all around you”. “Observing the city from my landing, surrounded by flats abandoned, some tower blocks produce the rubble, troublesome but still standing” What a fucking line! “Excuse my cockney”. This is a record that no Twang fan should be with out!
