Doyen D The Money shot
12"
This 12 inch is the second release for Doyen on Landscape, and after the first one got such good reviews much is expected from this. Two tracks on this 12, plus its got all instrumentals and that good stuff.
‘The Money Shot’ is a very funny track, Doyen always makes me laugh with the words he uses. The production is simple but it works with Doyen’s flow on this track, which is very rhythmic and consistent. Always like hearing good Northern rappers and this track makes me think Doyen is one of them. ‘The Quest’ has real nice production by Supra (Who does the production on both the tracks), I love the way that it switches up in the middle to a Indian feel when Doyen says ‘A fell asleep on the plain and woke up in Asia’. It just gives the track a very well programmed and planned feel, Doyen holds down the lyrics very nicely by story telling, which is a hard skill to master.
I’m feeling this probably more than I’ve felt Doyen in the past, he’s seems to be evolving in a good way. Although the production is good, I’m still waiting to hear Doyen rap over a more lively fast beat. But yeah all in all a very nice release from the boys at Landscape.
