Example comes straight out of Fulham with this new single, produced by Rusher, and released on his own ‘All the Chats’ label. Now maybe I’m late catching up or out of touch, but neither name ring a bell, at all. However the title cut, ‘I Don’t want To’ is pretty damn nice. A Muddy Waters sample provides the backbone for a fast paced beat over which Example tells a tale of life in London, at times funny and irreverent. Ladies, drugs and Pizza Express all somehow feature in, with some nice punchlines thrown in too, but while it works well it does get a little tiring. The flip, ‘Loneliness Costs’, shows that Rusher knows his stuff when it comes to flipping slightly obscure or unused samples. This time it’s Harry Nilsson’s ‘One’ that gets a boom bap treatment. Example delivers a darker tale this time round, yet still manages to fit in a few funny punchlines.
